John Connor is an American judge and former politician serving as a Circuit Judge on the 12th Judicial Circuit of Illinois since 2022 who served as a Democratic member of the Illinois Senate and Illinois House of Representatives.
In 2017,Connor was appointed to the Illinois House of Representatives. Connor assumed the position following the resignation of Emily McAsey in June 2017. [2] He served the remainder of McAsey's term until early 2019. As a prosecutor,Connor has been involved in high-profile cases,such as the Drew Peterson case. [3] Connor's term came towards the end of the Illinois state budget crisis,when the House ruled 71–42 to override Governor Bruce Rauner's veto of a state budget package. Connor was one of six Democrats to vote no. [4]
In the 2020 general election,Connor successfully ran for the Illinois Senate seat being vacated by fellow Democrat Pat McGuire. Connor was succeeded in the Illinois House by Democrat Dagmara Avelar. [5]
He resigned from the Senate on April 29,2022,and Eric Mattson was appointed to replace him on May 6,2022. [6] [7]
In November 2022,Connor was elected as a Circuit Judge for the 12th Judicial Circuit of Illinois,defeating Arkadiusz "Art" Smigielski for the vacancy of Richard Schoenstedt with 51.64% of the vote. [8]

Emily McAsey is a former Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives. A lawyer and teacher,she defeated Brent Hassert in November 2008 to become the state representative from Illinois's 85th House District. The district serves a suburban area north of Joliet along Illinois's Interstate 55. McAsey resigned to join her husband who recently accepted a job position out of state.
Tom Cullerton is an American politician. Cullerton was a member of the Illinois Senate representing the 23rd district from 2013 until resigning in 2022. Shortly after,he pleaded guilty to 1 count of embezzlement. During his tenure,the 23rd district spanned northern DuPage County and included all or parts of Addison,Bloomingdale,Bartlett,Carol Stream,Glendale Heights,Hanover Park,Itasca,Roselle,Villa Park,West Chicago,Wayne,Wood Dale and Medinah. Prior to his service in the Illinois Senate he was the Village President of Villa Park from 2009 to 2013 and served one term as a village trustee from 2005 to 2009.
