John Englund (March 20, 1873 – October 4, 1948) was an American newspaper editor and politician.
Born in Glenwood, Minnesota, Englund moved with his parents to Hancock, Minnesota. Shortly after that, Englund's parents died and Englund and his siblings were sent to an orphanage in Wittenberg, Wisconsin. Englund learned the printer's trade. Englund joined the International Typographical Union and worked in newspapers offices in Saint Paul, Minnesota between 1895 and 1897. He also went to St. Olaf College, in Northfield, Minnesota. Englund returned to Wittenberg, Wisconsin, as foreman of the Orphan House printing establishment. Englund then became owner and manager of the Wittenberg Enterprise newspaper. From 1925 to 1929, Englund served in the Wisconsin State Senate as a Republican. He also served as Wittenberg village clerk. Englund died in Wittenberg, Wisconsin after a long illness. [1] [2]

Harold Edward Stassen was an American Republican Party politician, military officer, and attorney who was the 25th governor of Minnesota from 1939 to 1943. He was a leading candidate for the Republican nomination for president of the United States in 1948. Though he was considered for a time to be the front-runner, he lost the nomination to New York governor Thomas E. Dewey. He thereafter regularly continued to run for the presidency and other offices, such that his name became most identified with his status as a perennial candidate.
Wittenberg is a village in Shawano County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,081 at the 2010 census. The village is located within the Town of Wittenberg.

He was a member of the United States House of Representatives for four terms, representing Wisconsin's 10th congressional district from 1935 through 1943. He also served four years in the Wisconsin Senate and 12 years in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Ashland County.
Albert R. Hall was an American farmer, businessman, and Republican politician. He served seven terms in the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing Hennepin County, and was speaker from 1872 until 1874. He later moved to Dunn County, Wisconsin, and served six terms in the Wisconsin State Assembly (1891–1903). In historical documents, his name is sometimes abbreviated as A. R. Hall.
George A. Nelson was an American dairy farmer, farm organization leader, and socialist politician. He is best remembered as the 1936 candidate of the Socialist Party of America for Vice President of the United States. He previously served as the 50th speaker of the Wisconsin State Assembly, and represented Polk County in the Assembly for three terms.
Gene Eniar Englund was an American professional basketball player. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for one season, 1949–50, and split the season playing for the Boston Celtics and Tri-Cities Blackhawks. Although he played professionally, Englund is best remembered for being a star college basketball player for Wisconsin, where as a senior in 1940–41 he led the Badgers to win the NCAA national championship.
John Gibson McMynn was an American educator and school system administrator. He was the 7th Wisconsin Superintendent of Public Instruction, the first president of the Wisconsin Teachers Association, and the founder of the public school system of Racine, Wisconsin. He also served as a Union Army officer during the American Civil War.
