John Stuart Hinton Gaskain, CBE, OStJ, QPM [1] (11 May 1910 – 16 November 1971) was Commandant of the National Police College from January 1966 to July 1968. [2]
Gaskain was educated at Haileybury. He joined the Metropolitan Police in 1936. He qualified as a barrister in 1944. He was Assistant Chief Constable of Norfolk Police from 1942 to 1952; Chief Constable of the Cumberland and Westmorland force from 1952 to 1959; and Chief Constable of Gloucestershire from 1960 [3] to 1962. He joined Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary in 1962. [4]
Patrick Tomkins QPM was appointed HM Chief Inspector of Constabulary for Scotland by Royal Warrant in March 2007 and retired from the post in April 2009. He was formerly the Chief Constable of Lothian and Borders Police, which he joined in 2002 and was succeeded by David Strang. He initially joined Sussex Police in 1979 and in 1993 transferred to the Metropolitan Police Service as a Chief Superintendent. He served as divisional commander at Paddington Green before being promoted to Commander to attend the Royal College of Defence Studies in 1997, where he took the prize for the best research paper that year. He served as Commander (Crime) for the then 1 Area (Central), where he led a multi-force search for the serial rapist Richard Baker, and was the day shift Gold commander for the policing of the occupation of the Greek Embassy in London in 1999. In 1999 he was seconded to HM Inspectorate of Constabulary as a Deputy Assistant Commissioner.

Ernest Frank Richardson (1871–1952) was a Chief Constable of Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. He joined the Police Force in 1893 at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, and rapidly achieved promotion to Chief Constable. He came from a family many of whom served in the police, and three family members served concurrently in the office of Chief Constable, at Salisbury, Hereford and Halifax.

Dame Lynne Gillian Owens, is a senior police officer in the United Kingdom. She was made interim Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service in September 2022 before being confirmed as that role's permanent holder in February 2023, the first-ever such female holder.
