John Norman Hyde (born 13 October 1957 in Hamilton,Victoria) is a former politician who was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly for the electoral district of Perth.
His father was Geelong and Claremont football player John Hyde. [1]
Hyde was elected to the seat in 2001 after the retirement of Diana Warnock. [2] He was shadow minister for Local Government,Culture and the Arts,Heritage,and Citizenship and Multicultural Interests. He lost his seat in the March 2013 election.
Hyde was the first openly gay man to be elected to the Western Australian parliament. He had previously been mayor of the Town of Vincent.

Henry Daglish was an Australian politician who was the sixth premier of Western Australia and the first from the Labor Party,serving from 10 August 1904 to 25 August 1905. Daglish was born in Ballarat,Victoria,and studied at the University of Melbourne. In 1882,he worked as a mechanical engineer but soon switched to working in the Victorian public service. He first stood for election in 1896 but failed to win the Victorian Legislative Assembly seat of Melbourne South. He then moved to Subiaco,Western Australia,where he found work as a chief clerk in the Western Australian Police Department. In 1900,Daglish was elected to the Subiaco Municipal Council and in April the following year,he was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Assembly as the member for the newly created seat of Subiaco,becoming one of six Labor members in the Western Australian Legislative Assembly. The party elected him as its whip,and he resigned from the Subiaco council on 1 May 1901. On 1 December 1902,Daglish was sworn in as mayor of Subiaco,having been elected the previous month.

The re-election of Premier John Scaddan's Labor Government with a 26-24 majority in 1914 was tempered when,a year later,Labor member Joseph Gardiner's seat was declared vacant on account of his non-attendance and a Liberal was elected in his stead,and Labor became a minority government when on 18 December 1915,Edward Johnston resigned from the Labor Party and became an independent. On 27 July 1916,the Scaddan Ministry was defeated and the Liberals' Frank Wilson became the new Premier.

The 2013 Australian federal election to elect the members of the 44th Parliament of Australia took place on Saturday 7 September 2013. The centre-right Liberal/National Coalition opposition led by Opposition leader Tony Abbott of the Liberal Party of Australia and Coalition partner the National Party of Australia,led by Warren Truss,defeated the incumbent centre-left Labor Party government of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in a landslide. It was also the third time in history that a party won 90 or more seats at an Australian election. Labor had been in government for six years since being elected in the 2007 election. This election marked the end of the Rudd-Gillard-Rudd Labor government and the start of the 9 year long Abbott-Turnbull-Morrison Liberal-National Coalition government. Abbott was sworn in by the Governor-General,Quentin Bryce,as Australia's new prime minister on 18 September 2013,along with the Abbott Ministry. The 44th Parliament of Australia opened on 12 November 2013,with the members of the House of Representatives and territory senators sworn in. The state senators were sworn in by the next Governor-General Peter Cosgrove on 7 July 2014,with their six-year terms commencing on 1 July.

The 45th Parliament of Australia was a meeting of the legislative branch of the Australian federal government,composed of the Australian Senate and the Australian House of Representatives. It met in Canberra from 30 August 2016 to 4 April 2019. The 2016 general election held on 2 July gave the Coalition of the Liberal and National Parties control of the House,albeit with a slimmer majority than the 44th Parliament,allowing their leader Malcolm Turnbull to stay in office as the 29th Prime Minister of Australia. During the term of the parliament,the government slipped into minority due to defections and by-elections. The leadership of the government also changed during the parliament,when Scott Morrison replaced Turnbull as Liberal Leader and Prime Minister in August 2018. The 45th Parliament was officially prorogued by the Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove at 8:29 a.m. on 11 April 2019,and the House of Representatives dissolved at 8:30 a.m.
