John Lund (born 12 January 1954) is a BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Cars racing driver from Rimington, Lancashire who races under number 53. Lund is one of the most successful stock car drivers of all time and holds the current record for the most World Championship wins.
Lund started racing in 1976, debuting at Rochdale on 28 March. [1] He progressed to star grade in 1977, [2] and to superstar in 1981. [3] In 1985, Lund started racing two cars, one for shale ovals, one for tarmac. [4] This helped catapult him to the very top of the sport.
In 1987 Lund won his first major title, the British Championship. He completed a sweep of the top three major championships when he won the World Championship at Belle Vue Stadium and the National Points Championship in the same year, the third person to achieve this feat.
Lund retained the World Championship in 1988 at Hednesford Hills Raceway, and won it again in 1991 and 1992. During the same period, he won the National Points Championship six consecutive times. [5] He also won the Dutch-based Long Track World Championship, the British Championship and the European Championship.
Lund won the World Championship again in 1996, 1997, 2000 and 2002. His collection of eight World Championship titles is a record, more than any other driver in the history of the sport. [6]
In 2004 Lund's eldest son, James Lund, started racing under number 153. In 2005 his second son, Sam Lund also started racing under number 531. Sam only raced in a few meetings before he died on 18 January 2007 from injuries sustained in a road traffic accident at the age of 19. [7]
Stock car racing is a form of automobile racing found mainly and most prominently in the United States and Canada, with New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, Great Britain and Brazil also having forms of stock car auto racing. Traditionally, races are run on oval tracks measuring approximately 0.25 to 2.66 miles. The world's largest governing body for stock car racing is the American NASCAR, and its NASCAR Cup Series is the premier top level series of professional stock car racing. Top level races typically range between 200 to 600 miles in length. The cars were originally production models, but are now highly modified.
Tim Harvey is a British racing driver, best known for being the 1992 British Touring Car Champion, and the 2008 and 2010 Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain champion. A household name in the 1990s, Harvey won sixteen races in the British Touring Car Championship between 1987 and 1995, but competed in the series until 2002. He was also the winner of the invitational Guia Race of Macau touring car event, in 1989.
BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Cars is a class of single seater stock car racing from the UK. Cars are custom-built and race on oval tracks of either shale or tarmac of approximately a quarter-mile in length. The tracks are surrounded by either an Armco barrier or post and cable fences to keep the cars on the track. Racing is full contact, which means drivers are allowed to push, punt and spin fellow competitors out of the way, although these maneuvers are often subtle as opposed to simply crashing into each other. The cars are very strong and are of an open wheel design, but are made with the contact element in mind, with front and rear bumpers and sturdy roll cages. The cars are unlimited horsepower with drivers using any engine they choose, with Chevrolet based small or big block V8 engines being the most popular. BriSCA F1 is the pinnacle of oval racing in the UK. The season runs from March through to November, with occasional meetings at Christmas.
Jamie Green is a British professional racing driver. He is currently employed by Audi Sport Team Rosberg in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) touring car championship.
Aycliffe Stadium was a sports facility located in County Durham, England, on the southern edge of the Aycliffe Industrial Estate, which has Newton Aycliffe to the North and Aycliffe Village to the South. The stadium was originally used for greyhound racing and then speedway before stock car racing.
V8 Hotstox is a British stock car racing formula that races on British short oval racing circuits. Drivers are members of the British Stock Car Drivers Association (BSCDA) and are affiliated to the British Stock Car Racing Association (BriSCA). V8 Hotstox have also previously been known as V8 Stock Cars.
Rob Speak is a racing driver from Tyldesley, Greater Manchester, was the most successful driver in BriSCA Formula 2 Stock Cars history. He has won the National Points Championship eleven times and the World Championship eight times. In addition, he has won the BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Cars World Championship, National Points Championship and European Championship. In September 2016 he became the new owner and BriSCA promoter of the Skegness Stadium in Lincolnshire.
Brandon Stadium also known as Coventry Stadium, is located 6 miles east of Coventry in Brandon, Warwickshire, England. It was the home of the Coventry Bees motorcycle speedway team. It also hosted BriSCA F1 Stock Car Racing on the 1st Saturday of the month from April through to November. From 1978 until early 2016 it intermittently hosted greyhound racing. As of recently, it has been closed down and dilapidated.
The World Championship is an annual competition started in 1955 for BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Cars. It is the premier championship of the formula and the winner is granted the honour of racing with a gold roof and wing until the next World Final, and if desired they can race under number 1.
The National Points Championship is a season-long competition for BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Cars. The winner is granted the honour of racing with a silver roof for the following season.
Paul Hines is a BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Cars racing driver from Hinckley, Leicestershire who races under number 259. In 2020 he was declared the world transgender champion and became the first driver to race under the rainbow grade roof colour.
Paul Harrison is a BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Cars racing driver from Rotherham who races under number 2. Harrison is a former World Champion and one of the most recognisable figures in the sport.

Gordon Moodie is a BriSCA Formula 2 Stock Cars racing driver from Windygates, Fife, Scotland, who races under number 7. Gordon Moodie is the most prolific major title holder in the 60 year history of the sport. To date he has won 68 Championships including 3 World Finals and the National Points Championship/National Series 13 times. He also holds the record of having won 465 feature final wins.
Barry Goldin is a BriSCA Formula 2 Stock Cars racing driver from Bolton, Greater Manchester who races under number 401. Goldin is one of a select group of drivers who has won the National Points Championship on three occasions. In 2012, Barry married fellow racer and BTCC Grid Girl Jo Polley, although the pair announced their separation in September 2014.
Roy Goodman is a former BriSCA Formula 2 Stock Cars racing driver. Goodman is one of the most successful drivers ever in the formula, having won the first ever World Championship in 1963 and National Points Championship on nine different occasions. Northampton Shaleway also known as Brafield, is used for BriSCA F1 Stock Cars, BriSCA Formula 2 Stock Cars, V8 Hotstox, and various other forms of oval motor sport including National Hot Rods, Banger racing, Saloon Stock Cars, Ministox and Rebels. It also briefly hosted speedway and greyhound racing.
King's Lynn Stadium, also known as the Adrian Flux Arena and previously as the Norfolk Arena, is a short oval stadium situated to the south of King's Lynn on Saddlebow Road in Norfolk County, England. It currently hosts BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Car Racing, Banger Racing, motorcycle speedway and is also a former greyhound racing track.
