Bowa went on to manage the San Diego Padres and Phillies,and is currently a senior advisor to the general manager of the Phillies.
David Michael Bell is an American former professional baseball third baseman and second baseman,former coach,and former manager who most recently managed the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball (MLB). Over the course of his 12-year MLB playing career,Bell appeared at all four infield positions while playing for the Cleveland Indians,St. Louis Cardinals,Seattle Mariners,San Francisco Giants,Philadelphia Phillies,and Milwaukee Brewers,but played primarily at third and second. Bell made his MLB debut for the Indians in 1995.
Gary Nathaniel Matthews Sr.,nicknamed "Sarge",is an American former professional baseball left fielder,who played 16 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB). After his playing days,Matthews was a color commentator for Philadelphia Phillies broadcasts. He is the father of former big league outfielder Gary Matthews Jr. The Matthews are one of seven father/son combinations in Cubs history;another son,Delvon,was a member of Milwaukee's Minor League Baseball (MiLB) system in 2000–2001.
Dale Curtis Sveum is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) player and manager. He most recently served as the bench coach for the Kansas City Royals. As a player,Sveum saw action in 12 major league seasons between 1986 and 1999. He was a member of the Milwaukee Brewers,Philadelphia Phillies,Chicago White Sox,Oakland Athletics,Seattle Mariners,Pittsburgh Pirates,and New York Yankees. Following his playing career,Sveum managed in minor league baseball for several seasons before becoming an MLB coach. Sveum briefly served as manager of the Brewers in 2008 during his tenure as hitting coach for the team. He was later named manager of the Cubs after the 2011 season and served for two seasons. His cousin is former Blue Jays All-Star John Olerud.
Charles Fuqua Manuel Jr. is an American former professional baseball player,coach,and manager. During his playing career,he appeared over parts of six Major League Baseball seasons for the Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Dodgers,before playing another six seasons in Nippon Professional Baseball with the Yakult Swallows and Kintetsu Buffaloes. Over four successive seasons in NPB,Manuel hit at least .312 with 37 home runs each season and won the 1979 Pacific League Most Valuable Player Award.
James Leroy Thomas was an American first baseman and right fielder,coach and front-office executive in Major League Baseball (MLB) who played for six teams from 1961 to 1968,most notably the Los Angeles Angels,then went on to a successful tenure as general manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. Traded to the Angels one month after the expansion franchise began play in 1961,he tied for third in Rookie of the Year voting after batting .285 with 24 home runs and 70 runs batted in (RBI),primarily playing in the outfield. The following year,he was named to the American League (AL) All-Star team after shifting to first base,and appeared in both All-Star games played that year as a pinch hitter and late-inning defensive replacement. He finished the year with career highs in batting (.290),home runs (26) and RBI (104),but a sharp decline in 1963 led to his being traded to the Boston Red Sox in mid-1964,the first of four trades before the 1968 season.
