After spending six years in the Toronto Blue Jays minor league baseball system, he enrolled at Florida State University at the age of 25, and played college football as a quarterback for the Florida State Seminoles. He thereafter played in the National Football League (NFL), where he spent most of his career with the Carolina Panthers.

Rashaun Dorrell Woods is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL). Woods played college football for Oklahoma State Cowboys, receiving All-American honors twice, including a consensus selection in 2002. He was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the first round of the 2004 NFL draft, and played professionally for the NFL's 49ers, the CFL's Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europa. Woods currently coaches at Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas (2023–present).

Rocky Ayres Calmus is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker for three seasons in the National Football League (NFL) during the early 2000s. He played college football for the Oklahoma Sooners, earned consensus All-American honors twice, and was recognized as the nation's top college linebacker. The Tennessee Titans selected him in the third round of the 2002 NFL draft.
Rick Don Bryan was an American professional football player who was a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for 10 seasons during the 1980s and 1990s. Bryan played college football for the Oklahoma Sooners, and received All-American honors. He ranked fifth on Sports Illustrated 2021 all-time “Top 10 Sooners Defensive Line” list. In another Sports Illustrated article titled “Greatest College Football Players by Jersey Number,” Bryan was mentioned as being the all-time greatest player of those who have ever wore college jersey number “80.” The Bleacher Report also stated in an article that Bryan was the best-ever college football player who wore jersey number “80.” Bryan was selected in the first round of the 1984 NFL draft, and played professionally for the Atlanta Falcons of the NFL.
George Edward Cumby is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker for eight seasons in the National Football League (NFL) during the 1980s. He played college football for the Oklahoma Sooners, thrice earning All-American honors, including a unanimous selection in 1979. A first-round pick in the 1980 NFL draft, Cumby played professionally for the Green Bay Packers, Buffalo Bills, and Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL. He was an athletic director and head football coach for Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Catholic School in Tyler, Texas. In 2016, he served as director of recruitment at Jacksonville College (TX).

Paul "Buddy" Burris was an American football player. He played college football for the Golden Hurricane at University of Tulsa, and after a hiatus to serve in the Second World War, for the Sooners at the University of Oklahoma. Burris was the first Oklahoma player to earn All-America honors in three years. After college, he played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) for three years with the Green Bay Packers.

Homer Paine was an American football tackle. He played college football at the University of Tulsa for one season and at the University of Oklahoma for three seasons. Paine was named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference first team while at Tulsa, and he was twice named to all-conference first teams while at Oklahoma. After college, Paine played professional football for one season with the Chicago Hornets of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC). He was selected in the 14th round of the 1946 NFL draft.

Jack Owen Davis was an American football guard who played one season with the Denver Broncos of the American Football League (AFL). He was drafted by the Washington Redskins of the National Football League (NFL) in the fifteenth round of the 1958 NFL draft. He first enrolled at the University of Oklahoma before transferring to the University of Arizona. Davis attended Heavener High School in Heavener, Oklahoma.
Caleb Sequan Williams is an American professional football quarterback for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). Following one season of college football with the Oklahoma Sooners, he played for the USC Trojans and won the 2022 Heisman Trophy after setting single-season school records in passing yards and touchdowns. Williams was selected first overall by the Bears in the 2024 NFL draft.
