Aruba sent a delegation to compete at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, United States from 19 July to 4 August 1996. This was Aruba's third appearance at a Summer Olympic Games since separating from the Netherlands Antilles. The Aruban delegation consisted of three competitors, track and field athlete Miguel Janssen, weightlifter Junior Faro, and cyclist Lucien Dirksz. Janseen was eliminated in the first round of the men's 200 metres, Faro finished 21st in the men's middleweight, and Dirksz failed to finish his event.

Lydia has won three Olympic Medals, two World Weightlifting Championships, as well as four European Weightlifting Championships.
Egypt competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012, sending one of its largest delegations ever. A total of 110 Egyptian athletes participated in 83 events across 20 sports, with more women taking part than ever before. The nation's flagbearer in the opening ceremonies was Hesham Mesbah, a judoka who was Egypt's only medalist at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Egypt won two medals during the course of the Games: Alaaeldin Abouelkassem earned silver in the men's foil, becoming the first competitor from an African nation to win a fencing medal, while Karam Gaber captured silver in the men's 84 kg Greco-Roman wrestling event. Two Egyptian weightlifters were awarded medals retroactively, after higher-ranked competitors were disqualified for doping: Abeer Abdelrahman took silver in the women's 75 kg event, while Tarek Yehia, received bronze in the men's 85 kg event. Among other achievements, Mostafa Mansour was the nation's first competitor in sprint canoeing while fencer Shaimaa El-Gammal became the first Egyptian female to appear in four editions of the Olympics.

Navab Nassirshalal is an Iranian retired weightlifter who won a gold medal in the men's 105 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He began weightlifting at the age of 15 and has also won a bronze medal in the 94 kg class snatch at the 2007 Asian Weightlifting Championships, silver in the 94 kg clean and jerk and bronze overall at the 2009 edition, and gold in the 105 kg category in 2012.
Im Yong-su is a North Korean weightlifter. He won a gold medal in the men's 62 kg division at the 2002 World Weightlifting Championships in Warsaw, Poland, with a total of 315.0 kilograms. He also captured two silver medals at the Asian Games. Im competed for the same division at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, and at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, but he neither completed the event, nor claimed an Olympic medal.

The Men's Flyweight Weightlifting Event is the lightest men's event at the weightlifting competition, limiting competitors to a maximum of 52 kilograms of body mass. Each weightlifter had three attempts for both the snatch and clean and jerk lifting methods. The total of the best successful lift of each method was used to determine the final rankings and medal winners. Competition took place on 20 July in the Izmailovo Sports Palace.
Kim Myong-nam is a North Korean male weightlifter, competing in the 70 kg category and representing North Korea at international competitions. He won the bronze medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in the 75 kg event and the silver medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in the 70 kg event. He competed at world championships, most recently at the 1997 World Weightlifting Championships.
Kim Byung-Chan also written as Kim Byeong-Chan was a South Korean male weightlifter, who competed in the middleweight and middle heavyweight class, representing South Korea at international competitions. He won the bronze medal at the 1991 World Weightlifting Championships in the 90 kg category. He participated at the 1988 Summer Olympics and at the 1992 Summer Olympics in the 90 kg event. He won the gold medal at the 1990 Asian Games in the Middle-Heavyweight class.
O Kang-Chol or O Khang-Chol is a North Korean weightlifter and Asian Games Champion competing in the 69 kg category until 2018 and 73 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories.
Yun Chol is a North Korean weightlifter. He competed in the men's middle heavyweight event at the 1992 Summer Olympics. He also won a silver medal at the 1990 Asian Games and finished seventh at the 1990 World Weightlifting Championships.
Rahmat Erwin Abdullah is an Indonesian weightlifter. He is a two-time gold medalist in the men's 73 kg event at the World Weightlifting Championships. He won a bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He is a weightlifter competing in the 73 kg class since 2018 World Weightlifting Championships in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. He made his international debut at the 2017 Youth World Weightlifting Championships held in Bangkok, Thailand in the 69 kg class.
