Jon Haffner

Johan ("Jon") Fredrik Wilhelm Haffner (born 2 March 1940) is a Norwegian surgeon and Professor Emeritus at the University of Oslo. He served as president of the Norwegian Medical Association from 1988 to 1991. His research has focused on the excitatory adrenergic response in gastric smooth muscle, and he has authored several textbooks and articles in his field. [1] [2]

Haffner graduated as a physician in Glasgow in 1964 and earned a dr.med. (D.Sc.) degree in medicine at the University of Oslo in 1973. He became a specialist in general surgery in 1977 and gastroenterological surgery in 1981. He became a senior consultant at Oslo University Hospital, Ullevål in 1983. In 2003 he became professor at the University of Oslo. [3]

He is a son of Johan Haffner, who was President of the Norwegian Medical Association 1954–1957. [3]

He was secretary general of the Norse Federation for 27 years, from 1955 to 1982. He was decorated as a Knight, First Class of the Order of St. Olav in 1975.

The Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies is a research centre in Oslo, Norway, and Norway's national research institution in violence and sexual abuse; disaster management, terrorism, armed conflicts and traumatic stress; and forced migration and refugee health research. It is interdisciplinary and employs experts mainly in psychology, psychiatry, and the social sciences. Skiklubben Ull was a Norwegian Nordic skiing club based in Oslo. Founded in 1883, Skiklubben Ull attracted several skilled sportsmen who between 1883 and 1891 won six Ladies' Cups and one King's Cup in national skiing events. The sporting facilities belonging the club were located in Vestre Aker, with the ski jumping hill Ullbakken near Frognerseteren being opened in 1884. The prestigious Husebyrennet was staged there once. Members of SK Ull were later instrumental in moving this prestigious contest to the hill Holmenkollbakken.
