1904 was the 15th season of County Championship cricket in England. Lancashire went through the season unbeaten and clinched the Championship title. Lancashire drew ten games,but their 16 wins were still more than any other team could muster. Defending champions Middlesex fell to fourth place,losing two successive matches to Kent and Nottinghamshire in June to have a negative percentage five games into the season. They did eventually win nine games,though,which was enough to take them past everyone bar Yorkshire and Kent. Yorkshire were two losses from sharing the Championship with Lancashire,and drew with the Champions on both occasions;despite Lancashire following on in their match at Headingley,Johnny Tyldesley made an unbeaten century from number three to draw the game. However,even a win in this match could not have given Yorkshire the title.
The 1970 English cricket season was the 71st in which the County Championship had been an official competition. There was controversy when a tour by South Africa was forced to be abandoned because of mounting opposition to the apartheid policy perpetuated by the South African government. Five Tests were scheduled but the tour was officially cancelled at the request of Home Secretary James Callaghan. Instead,England played a highly successful series of unofficial Tests against a Rest of the World XI which was captained by Gary Sobers and included some of the best South African players such as Graeme Pollock,Eddie Barlow,Mike Procter and Barry Richards. These matches were promoted as Tests at the time,but were not recognised as such by the International Cricket Conference. Alan Jones played for England only in this series,and had the unfortunate experience of thinking that he had played in Tests only subsequently to discover that he had not. Kent won the County Championship title.
The Australia cricket team toured South Africa between February and April 2002 to play three Test and seven ODI matches. Australia won the Test series 2–1 and the ODI series 5–1.

In 2010,Kent County Cricket Club competed in Division One of the County Championship,Group C of the 40-over Clydesdale Bank 40 and the South Group of the Friends Provident t20. Kent also hosted three-day first-class matches at the St Lawrence Ground against Loughborough MCCU and the touring Pakistanis. It was the first season in charge for Director of Cricket Paul Farbrace. The club captain was former England batsman Rob Key who had been club captain since 2006. Kent's overseas players were South African fast bowler Makhaya Ntini until late May,and Sri Lankan leg-spinner Malinga Bandara for the rest of the season.
