Jonathan Digby Garth (born 12 January 1965) is a former Irish cricketer who played for the Irish national side between 1986 and 1989. [1] A right-handed batsman and right-arm medium pace bowler, he was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, but raised in Dublin, where he attended The High School. [2] Overall, he played 26 times for Ireland, [3] including three first-class matches and four List A matches. [4] [5]
A captain of Ireland youth teams, Garth made his debut for Ireland in May 1986, playing two matches against India. The following month, he played twice against Yorkshire and against Wales and Leicestershire [3] in his List A debut. [5] In July, he played against the MCC, scoring 64 in the Ireland second innings, his highest score (and only half-century) in all matches for Ireland. The following month, he made his first-class debut, playing against Scotland in Glasgow. [4]
Garth continued in the Ireland team throughout 1987, 1988 and 1989, playing against Pakistan, Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire, Sussex, Scotland, the MCC, Worcestershire and Derbyshire, amongst others. Playing against Northamptonshire in a NatWest Trophy match in June 1987, [5] he took 3/28, his best bowling figures for Ireland and in List A cricket. [1] Garth played his last game for Ireland in August 1989 against Wales. In all matches for Ireland, he scored 392 runs at an average of 14.00, and took 24 wickets at an average of 43.46. [3]
After retiring from cricket, Garth took up work in the insurance industry. [2] He married Anne-Marie McDonald, who played for the Irish women's team in the late 1980s, including at ODI level. [6] Their daughter, Kim Garth, has also played at international level, while their sons play club cricket. [2] [7]
David Alan Lewis is a former Irish cricketer and rugby union referee. He is also an occasional media commentator on Irish cricket. His father, Ian, and daughters, Robyn and Gaby, have also played cricket for Ireland,
William Kyle McCallan, usually known as Kyle McCallan, is a former Irish cricketer. A right-handed batsman and off spin bowler, he has played more times for the Ireland cricket team than any other player, more than 40 caps ahead of the next player in the table, the retired Peter Gillespie. Only three players have captained Ireland more times than McCallan, and only Jason Molins has captained them to more wins. He has also played second XI cricket for Derbyshire and Surrey.
Paul McCrum is an Irish former cricketer. A right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler, he played 74 times for the Ireland cricket team between 1989 and 1998 including four first-class matches against Scotland and 16 List A matches. He also played for the Northern Ireland national cricket team in the cricket tournament at the 1998 Commonwealth Games.
Gustavus Noel Blake Kelly was an Irish cricketer. A right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler, he played six times for the Ireland cricket team between 1922 and 1926, including four first-class matches. He also played first-class cricket for Dublin University.
Garfield David Harrison is one of four brothers to have played cricket for the Ireland cricket team. Garfield was by far the most successful of the four, playing 118 times for Ireland between 1983 and 1997, including twelve first-class matches against Scotland and 20 List A matches.
Thomas Hartigan Dixon was an Irish cricketer. A right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler, he made his debut for the Ireland cricket team against Scotland in July 1927 in a first-class match. He went on to play for Ireland on 17 occasions, his last match coming in July 1932 against the MCC.

Kimberley Jennifer Garth is an Irish-Australian cricketer who currently plays for Victoria, Melbourne Stars and Australia. An all-rounder, she plays as a right-arm medium bowler and right-handed batter. Between 2010 and 2019, she played international cricket for Ireland, the country of her birth, playing more than 100 matches for the side, before deciding to move to Australia. She made her international debut for Australia in December 2022.
Anne-Marie Frances Garth is a former Irish international cricketer who played for the Irish national team between 1988 and 1989. A right-handed medium-pace bowler, she played in twelve One Day International (ODI) matches, including at the 1988 World Cup.
