Jonathan Paul Lowe (born 13 November 1977) is an English former first-class cricketer and British Army officer.
Lowe was born at Pontefract in November 1977. He was educated at the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Wakefield,before going up to Girton College,Cambridge. [1] While studying at Cambridge,he played first-class cricket for Cambridge University Cricket Club from 1998 to 2000,making eleven appearances. [2] Playing as a medium pace bowler,he took 8 wickets at an expensive average of 81.75 runs per wicket;his best bowling figures were 2 for 42. [3] After graduating from Cambridge,he attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He graduated in January 2002,entering into the Army Air Corps as a second lieutenant. [4] He gained promotion to captain in June 2004, [5] before being made a major in July 2009. [6] A further promotion to lieutenant colonel followed in June 2017, [7] with Lowe gaining his Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in October 2018. [8]
Christopher Heseltine was an English Test cricketer,cricket administrator,and British Army officer. Heseltine made his debut in first-class cricket for the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in 1892,a club he would go on to have a long association with in both a playing and administrative capacity. He played his county cricket for Hampshire County Cricket Club between 1895 and 1914,developing late as a successful fast bowler in first-class cricket. A close acquaintance of Lord Hawke,he accompanied him on three tours abroad,including to South Africa in 1895–96,making two Test match appearances for England against South Africa,in which he took a five wicket haul on debut. During his first-class career he played in 79 matches and took 170 wickets. He was later a member of the MCC committee and had two spells as president of Hampshire.
Edward Leathley Armitage was an Irish first-class cricketer and an officer in the British Army. In a military career which spanned from 1910 to 1944,Armitage served in both the First and Second World Wars,in addition to other regional conflicts in British India. His military career ended with him holding the honorary rank of brigadier. As a first-class cricketer,he mostly played county cricket for Hampshire and services cricket for the British Army cricket team,recording one century.
