Joost Vandebrug (born 24 June 1982) [1] is a Dutch artist working across photography and film.
Vandebrug studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam.
Vandebrug's photo-based works include both conventional and unconventional printing techniques such as pigment transfers and gelatin silver process, both on the hand-made and hand-coated Washi as well as the more traditional Baryte papers. The susceptibility and fragility of the Japanese paper, which often parallels his subject matters, led to Vandebrug's embrace of imperfection and accidents that go against the photographic tradition of producing and preserving unblemished prints. His documentary film, in which he follows a group of adolescents for 6 years as they inhabit abandoned tunnels in Bucharest, [3] [4] received a 5-star review in The Guardian , [5] and was screened in over 50 film festivals around the world. [6] The film is produced by Grain media and executive producer Noomi Rapace. [7]

The Club Kids were a group of young New York City dance club personalities popularized by Michael Alig, James St. James, Julie Jewels, Astro Erle, Michael Tronn, DJ Keoki, and Ernie Glam in the late 1980s, and throughout the 1990s would grow to include Amanda Lepore, Waltpaper, Christopher Comp, It Twins, Jennytalia, Desi Monster, Keda, Kabuki Starshine, and Richie Rich. The Lost Boys of Sudan refers to a group of over 20,000 boys of the Nuer and Dinka ethnic groups who were displaced or orphaned during the Second Sudanese Civil War (1987–2005). Two million were killed and others were severely affected by the conflict. The term was used by healthcare workers in the refugee camps and may have been derived from the children's story of Peter Pan. The term also was used to refer to children who fled the post-independence violence in South Sudan in 2011–2013.

Devil's Knot is a 2013 American biographical crime drama film directed by Atom Egoyan.
