Jorge Carral Armella (born September 2, 1983) is a Mexican former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle events. [1] He held numerous national age group records in the 400 and 1500 m freestyle, and later represented Mexico at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
Carral competed in a long-distance freestyle double, as a 17-year-old, at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He posted FINA B-standards of 3:56.20 (400 m freestyle) and 15:33.66 (1500 m freestyle) from the Mexican Youth Olympic Festival in Hermosillo. [2] [3] [4] On the first day of the Games, Carral placed twenty-eighth in the 400 m freestyle. Swimming in heat three, he held off New Zealand's Jonathan Duncan by 0.18 of a second to take a fourth spot in 3:58.34. [5] [6] Nearly a week later, in the 1500 m freestyle, Carral challenged seven other swimmers in the same heat, including top favorites Ricardo Monasterio of Venezuela and Spyridon Gianniotis of Greece. He finished the program's longest race in sixth place and thirty-first overall at 15:43.03, almost ten seconds off his Mexican record and entry time. [7] [8]
Heiko Hell is a German former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle events. He is a nine-time German swimming champion in the 400, 800, and 1500 m freestyle (2000–2004), and also a three-time Olympic finalist. Hell is a member of Hamburg City Swimming Club, and is coached and trained by Dirk Lange.
Adam Paul Faulkner is an English former competitive swimmer who represented Great Britain in the Olympic Games and competed for England in the Commonwealth Games. Faulkner specialised in long-distance freestyle events. He won a bronze medal, as a member of England swimming team, at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, with a final time of 7:22.56.
Hannes Kalteis is an Austrian former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle events. Kalteis upset local favorite Guy Noel Schmitt to take the gold in the 1500 m freestyle at the 2000 European Junior Swimming Championships in Dunkerque, France with a time of 15:21.41.
Giancarlo Zolezzi Seoane is a Chilean former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle events. He is a multiple-time Chilean swimming champion and record holder in the 200, 400, 800, and 1500 m freestyle.
Aleksey Sergeyevich Kovrigin is a Russian former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and individual medley events. He is a three-time Russian swimming in the 400 m individual medley, and a current president of the Krasnoyarsk Swimming Federation. He is also a graduate of physical education at Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University.
Damian Arthur Christopher Alleyne is a Barbadian former swimmer who specialized in freestyle events. He is a two-time Olympian, a varsity swimmer for the Georgia Bulldogs, and a graduate of Bolles School and the University of Georgia, with a major in business administration.
Aytekin Mindan is a Turkish former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. He held a Turkish record of 1:50.40 in the 200 m freestyle, until it was matched by Kemal Arda Gurdal in 2012. He studied at Istanbul Bilgi University.
Yves Platel is a Swiss former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and individual medley events. He is a two-time Olympian, and currently holds four Swiss records in long-distance freestyle and the 400 m individual medley. Platel is a member of Genève Natation 1885 in Geneva, and is coached and trained by Dirk Reinecke.
Pilin Tachakittiranan is a Thai former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and butterfly events. She is a two-time Olympian and a multiple-time age-group record holder in all freestyle distances. Regarded as Thailand's top female swimmer, she has won a total of five gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games.
Ivanka Moralieva is a Bulgarian former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle events and open water marathon. Since 2001, she holds a Bulgarian record in the 1500 m freestyle from the World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan (16:55.53). She also won a bronze medal in the 25 km, as an open water swimmer, at the 2004 European Aquatics Championships in Madrid, Spain (4:41:21.2).
Woo Chul is a retired South Korean swimmer, who specialized in middle-distance freestyle events. He is a two-time Olympian, and a double medalist at the Asian Games.
Vlastimil Burda is a Czech former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle events. He is a single-time Olympian (2000) and a resident athlete for USK Praha in Prague. While studying in the United States, Burda held two NCAA championship titles, and a school record (4:22.58) in the 400-yard freestyle since 2002, as a member of Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners.
Dzmitry Uladzimiravich Koptur is a Belarusian former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle events. He is a 2000 Olympian and a three-time Belarusian record holder in the 400, 800, and 1500 m freestyle.
Torwai Sethsothorn is a Thai former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle but also competed in backstroke and individual medley. He is a single-time Olympian (2000), and a multiple-time SEA Games gold medalist. Sethsothorn is also the brother of 1998 Asian Games champion Torlarp Sethsothorn.
Dieung Anak Manggang is a Malaysian former swimmer, who specialised in long-distance freestyle and in butterfly events. He is a single-time Olympian (2000), and a multiple-time SEA Games medalist.
Juan Carlos Tanpinco Piccio is a Filipino former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle and in individual medley events. He won a total of three medals, two silvers and one bronze, at the Southeast Asian Games, and later represented the Philippines at the 2000 Summer Olympics. He also holds numerous age group titles, including seven golds from the Philippine National Games, and more than five Filipino records in long-distance freestyle and in individual medley during his sporting career. While residing in the United States, Piccio played for the Davie Nadadores Club in Mission Viejo, California, and later for the Cincinnati Bearcats swimming and diving team at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he became the team's rookie of the year (2002).
Li Yun-lun is a Taiwanese former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle events. He is a single-time Olympian and a former record holder in the 400 and 1500 m freestyle.

Lin Chi-chan is a Taiwanese former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle but also competed in backstroke. She represented Chinese Taipei in two editions of the Olympic Games, and later earned two medals each in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay (3:51.42), and 4 × 200 m freestyle relay (8:18.92) at the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand.
Patricia Villarreal Vargas is a Mexican former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle events. She represented Mexico, as a 17-year-old, at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and also became a member of Sharks Swim Club at the Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida under her personal coach Larry Shofe.
