Jornal de Letras, Artes e Ideias, also known simply as Jornal de Letras (JL), is a Portuguese biweekly national newspaper published in Laveiras, Paco de Arcos, Portugal. [1]

History and profile

JL was first published in March 1981. [2] The paper is published on a biweekly basis [3] and was owned by Impresa [4] until 2018. It provides literary and cultural news. [2] [3] In 2018 Portuguese company Trust in News (TIN) acquired the paper. [5]

The circulation of JL was 27,000 copies in August 1981 and 25,550 in June 1982. [2] It fell to 15,290 copies in June 1986. [2]

Sunday Observer is a weekly English-language newspaper in Sri Lanka, published on Sundays. The paper, which was established in the present-day format in 1928, has roots that date back to 1834 when Sri Lanka was under the British rule. The Media in Gujarati language started with publication of Bombay Samachar in 1822. Initially the newspapers published business news and they were owned by Parsi people based in Bombay. Later Gujarati newspapers started published from other parts of Gujarat. Several periodicals devoted to social reforms were published in the second half of the 19th century. After arrival of Mahatma Gandhi, the Indian independence movement peaked and it resulted in proliferation of Gujarati media. Following independence, the media was chiefly focused on political news. After bifurcation of Bombay state, the area of service changed. Later there was an increase in readership due to growth of literacy and the media houses expanded its readership by publishing more number of editions. Later these media houses ventured into digital media also. The radio and television media expanded after 1990.
