John Dramani Mahama is a Ghanaian politician who served as President of Ghana from 24 July 2012 to 7 January 2017. He previously served as Vice President of Ghana from January 2009 to July 2012,and took office as president on 24 July 2012 following the death of his predecessor John Evans Fiifi Attah Mills. Mahama is a communication expert,historian,and writer. He is a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC),who was a Member of Parliament for Bole Bamboi from 1997 to 2009 and served as Deputy Minister for Communication between 1997 and 1998 before becoming the substantive Minister for Communications from 1998 to 2001.
Sophia Abena Boafoa Akuffo was the Chief Justice of Ghana from 2017 until 20 December 2019. Prior to that,she had already been a Judge in the Supreme Court of Ghana since 1995.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is a Ghanaian politician who has served as the president of Ghana since 7 January 2017. In 2020,he was re-elected for his second term,which will end on 6 January 2025. Akufo-Addo previously served as Attorney General from 2001 to 2003 and as Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2003 to 2007 under the Kufuor-led administration. He was elected as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) chairman on 7 September 2020. He was re-elected for a second term as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Chairman on 2 February 2021. He ended his term on 3 July 2022.
The Supreme Court of Ghana is the highest judicial body in Ghana. Ghana's 1992 constitution guarantees the independence and separation of the Judiciary from the Legislative and the Executive arms of government.
Political corruption in Ghana has been common since independence. Since 2006,Ghana's score and ranking on the Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index has improved slightly,ranked higher than Italy and Brazil. However,there is a growing perception in Ghana that government-related corruption is on the rise. Ghana ranked 73rd on the Corruption Perceptions Index in 2021,tied with Hungary,Kuwait,Senegal and the Solomon Islands. Even though corruption in Ghana is relatively low when compared to other countries in Africa,businesses frequently quote corruption as an obstacle for doing business in the country. Corruption occurs often in locally funded contracts,companies are subject to bribes when operating in rural areas.
The Electoral Commission of Ghana(EC) is the official body in Ghana responsible for all public elections. Made up of seven members,its independence is guaranteed by the 1992 Ghana constitution. The current commission was established by the Electoral Commission Act of 1993. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan was the first substantive chairman of the commission from 1993 to 2015. He was succeeded by Charlotte Osei as the first female chairman of the commission. On 5 December 2018,the Electoral commission chaired by Jean Adukwei Mensah reverted to the old logo showing Coat of arms of Ghana and a ballot box showing the hand casting its votes,after the controversy over the new logo
Martin Alamisi Burnes Kaiser Amidu is a Ghanaian politician and lawyer who served as Attorney General of Ghana from 2011 to 2012 and then as the First Special Prosecutor of the country from 2018 until his resignation in 2020,citing political interference by the President,Nana Akufo-Addo. He is also known for introducing the word ‘gargantuan‘,into the body politic Ghana,when he opened investigations into the Woyome scandal which was one of the highest profiled corruption cases at the time. On 11 January 2018,Martin A.B.K Amidu was named by the President of Ghana as the Special Prosecutor for the newly created Office of the Special Prosecutor. Nana Akufo-Addo touted his anti-corruption fights as Attorney General and a private citizen as reasons for choosing Mr. Amidu,his one-time political adversary.
The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice is an independent governmental organization charged with safeguarding of human rights and investigating human rights abuses in Ghana. It was established in 1993 by Act 456 of the Parliament of Ghana as directed by Article 216 of the 1992 Ghana constitution.

Nicholas Yaw Boafo Adade (1927–2013) was a former supreme court judge and Attorney General of the Republic of Ghana. He was the Attorney General of Ghana between 14 April 1969 to 1970 in the Busia government. He has also served as a former Member of Parliament for the Asante Akim South constituency in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He died on 14 May 2013. Nana Akufo-Addo,who was then leader of the main opposition party in Ghana,paid tribute to Adade's service to Ghana.
Charlotte Kesson-Smith Osei is the UN International Elections Commissioner,a Ghanaian lawyer and former chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana from 2015 until she was dismissed in June 2018 on grounds of financial malfeasance. Her dismissal has been challenged in the Supreme Court of Ghana by two separate writs. She became the first female to serve in the office of the Electoral Commission of Ghana since the independence of Ghana. Before her appointment she was the chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education. In May 2019,she was appointed by the United Nations to be on a team of international advisors,to assist in managing the 2019 presidential elections in Afghanistan.
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is a Ghanaian politician and businessman who represents Assin Central in parliament for the New Patriotic Party. He was first elected a member of parliament in 2000 to the seat of Assin North. He retained his seat in the 2004 and 2008 parliamentary elections. In 2012 he was elected in the new seat of Assin Central and was re-elected in 2016. He also retained his seat in the 2020 general elections. He is currently the Chairman of the Parliament's Defense and Interior Committee.
Kwasi Anin-Yeboah is a Ghanaian lawyer and the current Chief Justice of Ghana. In December 2019,President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo nominated Justice Anin-Yeboah as the Chief Justice of Ghana.
Dominic Aduna Bingab Nitiwul is a Ghanaian politician and Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bimbilla constituency in the Northern Region of Ghana. He has also served in the Pan-African Parliament. Since February 2017,Nitiwul has held the office of Minister of Defence of Ghana.
General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2020. Incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was re-elected in the first round after securing a majority of the votes. Former President John Dramani Mahama says he will contest the results.
The presidency of John Mahama began on 24 July 2012 and ended on 7 January 2017. John became the 11th President of Ghana after he succeeded John Atta Mills who died in office on 24 July 2012. Prior to that,he served as Vice-President of Ghana from January 2009 to July 2012.
