Tart attended the McDonald College [2] before he was accepted into National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 1994, graduating in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in Performing Arts.[ citation needed ] He is a descendant of prominent Chinese Australian Mei Quong Tart, who ran a popular tea house in the Queen Victoria Building in Sydney, and was also an early Chinese ambassador to Australia. He is the youngest of four boys in his family.[ citation needed ]
Tart's list of television credits includes the role of Will Monk on headLand , a drama series airing on the Seven Network and Matt Horner on the Australian award-winning series All Saints . Josh was also an original co-host on the kids TV show Sarvo with Jamie Croft on Foxtel's Nickelodeon.
Quong Tart featured alongside actress Genevieve Lemon and brother Byron Tart in the stage show, Lemon Tart in 2006 and 2007. Tart joined the cast of Home and Away in 2007 as Miles "Milco" Copeland. [3] In October 2011, Tart announced he was departing Home and Away after nearly four years. [4]
In 2012, Tart joined the cast of Underbelly: Badness as Andrew Perish. [5]
In August 2013, it was announced that Tart would play Scar in the 2013–16 Australian production of Disney's The Lion King (nicknamed the Antelope Tour), premiering in Sydney at The Capitol Theatre in December 2013. [6] The show also played in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth and closed in January 2016.
Tart starred in Betty Blokk-Buster Reimagined during the 2020 Sydney Festival. Sydney Morning Herald critic, Harriet Cunningham, called his performance "simply extraordinary" and "a revelation". [7]

Miles "Milco" Copeland is a fictional character from the Australian Channel Seven soap opera Home and Away, played by Josh Quong Tart. He debuted on-screen during the episode airing on 30 November 2007. Ryley Mickle and Jackson Edwards played Miles in flashback sequences, showing him at ages three and eight years old respectively. During the early years of Home and Away, Sally Fletcher often spoke of an imaginary friend she called "Milco". When Ritchie announced her departure from the soap, producers decided to introduce the real Milco, as regular character Miles Copeland. The development was described by the media as a "legacy storyline." Quong Tart announced his departure from Home and Away in October 2011. Miles departed on 23 November 2011.
Underbelly: Badness, the fifth series of the Nine Network crime drama series Underbelly, originally aired from 13 August 2012 to 1 October 2012. It is an eight-part series detailing real events that occurred in Sydney between 2001 and 2012. The series began its production in early 2012 and towards the middle of the year filming eventually commenced. A teaser clip for the series was released by the Nine Network indicating the core cast of the series. Caroline Craig returns to narrate the series for a fifth time. It was the first season of the franchise not to have 13 episodes.
