Josh Rand (born August 19, 1974) is an American musician best known as the rhythm guitarist of the band Stone Sour.

Josh Rand started playing bass guitar when he was 9, inspired by Billy Sheehan, Cliff Burton, Frankie Bello and Jason Newsted. He has known Corey Taylor since he was 15. The two played in several bands together before Josh switched to guitar at age 17. Rand has said that after hearing the band Racer X he knew playing the guitar was right for him. Rand earned a professional certificate in guitar from Berklee College of Music and is currently pursuing a master's degree in guitar there as well.

Stone Sour

Josh Rand is the second longest-serving member of Stone Sour after Corey Taylor, they have both gone on to release six studio albums and two covers EP's with the band. [1] Rand has stated that he adds elements of thrash metal in Stone Sour's music. [2]

Roadrunner United

In 2005, Roadrunner Records released Roadrunner United: The All-Star Sessions to celebrate the label's 25th birthday. Josh Rand, along with Jesse Leach (Killswitch Engage, Seemless, The Empire Shall Fall), Matt Heafy (Trivium), Mike D'Antonio (Killswitch Engage, ex-Overcast, Death Ray Vision) and Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative) contributed a track "Blood & Flames".

Moonshot

Josh Rand has teamed up with Lindsay Robins, Canadian singer-songwriter, and together they make up the hard rock band Moonshot. The band played 2 shows in Toronto and New York in January 2009 and released four songs on band's MySpace page — "Blood Red", "Feedback", "Instant Revolution" and "Riptide", three of which soon became Stone Sour's songs "Unfinished", "Mission Statement" and "Sadist". Moonshot also included Justin Bunn on bass guitar and Graham Leduc on drums [3]

Other projects

In 2013 Josh Rand released an instructional DVD called 'The Sound And The Story'. The DVD series takes you behind the scenes with Stone Sour guitarist Josh Rand, it features guitar contents, lessons, exercises, interviews, gear tours, and more. [4]

When Stone Sour went on hiatus in 2020, Rand teamed up with Paralandra vocalist Casandra Carson to form LIFE Project. Their debut single was released in April 2021. [5]

Slipknot is an American heavy metal band formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995 by percussionist Shawn Crahan, drummer Joey Jordison and bassist Paul Gray. After several lineup changes in its early years, the band settled on nine members for more than a decade: Crahan, Jordison, Gray, Craig Jones, Mick Thomson, Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, Chris Fehn, and Jim Root. Bassist Gray died on May 24, 2010, and was replaced during 2011–2014 by Donnie Steele. Jordison was dismissed from the band on December 12, 2013. Steele left during the recording sessions for .5: The Gray Chapter. The band found replacements in Alessandro Venturella on bass and Jay Weinberg on drums. After the departure of Jordison, as of December 2013 the only founding member in the current lineup is percussionist Crahan. Killswitch Engage's current lineup consists of vocalist Jesse Leach, guitarists Joel Stroetzel and Adam Dutkiewicz, bassist Mike D'Antonio, and drummer Justin Foley. The band has released eight studio albums and three live performance albums. Their eighth studio album, Atonement, was released on August 16, 2019.

Alive or Just Breathing is the second studio album by American metalcore band Killswitch Engage. It was released on May 21, 2002, through Roadrunner Records. Alive or Just Breathing was Killswitch Engage's first album on Roadrunner and was recorded from October 2001 to February 2002. Produced by drummer and guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, this was the band's first album on a major label, which prompted them to write and record the album to the best of their abilities. Alive or Just Breathing has been viewed as a landmark album in the metalcore genre and was well praised upon its release by fans and critics. The lyrics, which were all written by vocalist Jesse Leach, were intended to bring a positive message through the music.

<i>Roadrunner United</i> Project by Roadrunner Records

Roadrunner United was a project organized by American heavy metal record label Roadrunner Records to celebrate its 25th anniversary. It culminated in an album released worldwide on October 11, 2005, entitled The All-Star Sessions. Four "team captains" were chosen to lead 57 artists from 45 past and present Roadrunner bands, and produce and oversee the album's 18 tracks: then-Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, Trivium frontman and guitarist Matt Heafy, Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares, and Machine Head frontman and guitarist Robb Flynn. The project was the brainchild of Roadrunner UK general manager Mark Palmer and Roadrunner USA VP of A&R Monte Conner. The album project was coordinated by Lora Richardson and was mixed by Colin Richardson and Andy Sneap. The All-Star Sessions spawned one single and music video. The DVD included with the CD purchase is a documentary of the "Making Of" the songs. It features the sessions of the four team captains making their songs.

Come What(ever) May is the second studio album by American rock band Stone Sour, released on August 1, 2006, by Roadrunner Records. It was recorded and produced by Nick Raskulinecz and the band at Studio 606 in Los Angeles, California. Writing for the album began as early as 2003 when vocalist Corey Taylor and guitarist James Root were writing material for their other band, Slipknot. In January 2006, Stone Sour began recording their second album, during which time drummer Joel Ekman left the band because of family constraints. He was eventually replaced by ex-Soulfly drummer Roy Mayorga who played on all but two tracks on the album.

He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was a founding member of Thousand Watt Stare, Black President, the Strychnine Babies and the Chelsea Smiles. Martucci was Dee Dee Ramone's guitarist from late 1999 to 2002 and appeared as "Chris the Creep" in Ramones's last book, Legend of a Rock Star, A Memoir: The Last Testament of Dee Dee Ramone. <i>Audio Secrecy</i> 2010 studio album by Stone Sour

Audio Secrecy is the third studio album by American rock band Stone Sour. It was recorded and produced by the band and Nick Raskulinecz at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. On June 10, the band released a free download of "Mission Statement", which was later released as a single on iTunes. The first official single, "Say You'll Haunt Me", however, was released on July 6, 2010. Audio Secrecy is also the first album by the band to not feature a 'Parental Advisory' sticker and is dedicated to Slipknot bassist Paul Gray, who had died earlier in 2010. It is also the band's last album to feature bassist Shawn Economaki, and their first album to feature the same members from the previous album.

Disarm the Descent is the sixth studio album by American metalcore band Killswitch Engage. The album was released on April 2, 2013, under Roadrunner Records. It is the band's first album with Jesse Leach on vocals since 2002's Alive or Just Breathing. Killswitch Engage announced the return of Leach in January 2012, after vocalist Howard Jones parted ways with the group due to illness. The album received generally positive reception from professional critics.
