The 'National Alliance' is a political alliance in Sint Maarten, formed by the Sint Maarten Patriotic Alliance and the National Progressive Party. It is one of main political parties within Sint Maarten. At the legislative elections in the Netherlands Antilles, 18 January 2002, the alliance won 4.8% of the popular vote of Sint Maarten and 1 out of 22 seats. At the elections in the Netherlands Antilles of 27 January 2006, it won one extra seat.
The Minister Plenipotentiary of Sint Maarten represents the constituent country of Sint Maarten in the Council of Ministers of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The current Minister Plenipotentiary is Jorien Wuite.

Mathias Sinclair Voges is a politician and historian from Sint Maarten, who held the office of Minister Plenipotentiary of Sint Maarten from 2010 till 2014. Before this, Voges had been Acting Lieutenant Governor of Sint Maarten. He is also a former president of the Board of Directors of the University of St. Martin.
The First Wescot-Williams cabinet was the first Cabinet of Sint Maarten installed following the achievement of constituent country status of Sint Maarten within the Kingdom of the Netherlands on 10 October 2010. The United St. Maarten Party is a political party in Sint Maarten founded in 2013 by former National Alliance deputy leader Frans Richardson. The party currently holds one seat in the Parliament of Sint Maarten. In the 2014 general elections, the party obtained 2 seats. However, their then (MP)-elect Leona Marlin-Romeo left the US Party and became an independent member of parliament.
The One St. Maarten People Party (OSPP) is a political party in Sint Maarten founded in 2013 by former Sint Maarten Patriotic Alliance finance commissioner Lenny Priest. At the 2014 general elections on 29 August, the party obtained 1.16% of the votes and failed to obtain a seat in parliament.
The Gumbs cabinet was a coalition cabinet in Sint Maarten formed by the United People's Party and independent members of Parliament Cornelius de Weever and Leona Marlin-Romeo.

Henrietta Doran-York is a politician from Sint Maarten. She has been Minister Plenipotentiary of Sint Maarten since 19 November 2015. She previously served as Deputy Minister Plenipotentiary. Doran-York is a member of the National Alliance party, and has run in several elections.
Rafael A. Boasman was Prime Minister of Sint Maarten from 24 November 2017 to 15 January 2018. From 20 December 2016 to 15 January 2018, Boasman was also the Minister of Justice. Franklin Antonio Meyers is a Sint Maarten businessman and United People's Party politician who serves as a Member of Parliament since 2014. He was Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications in the First Wescot-Williams cabinet from 2010 to 2012.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Sint Maarten is part of the ongoing viral pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which was confirmed to have reached the Dutch Caribbean island of Sint Maarten on 17 March 2020. The island is split in a Dutch and French part, with the main airport on the Dutch side and the major harbour on the French side. The first positive test was a French couple from Saint Martin who returned from France via Saint Barthélemy on 1 March 2020. They were screened and tested positive on the airport, but are counted on the French count. The island had a population of 41,486 people in 2016.
