Nona Hendryx is an American vocalist, record producer, songwriter, musician, author, and actress.
Daniel Earl Hartman was an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Among songs he wrote and recorded were "Free Ride" with the Edgar Winter Group, and the solo hits "Relight My Fire", "Instant Replay", "I Can Dream About You", "We Are the Young" and "Second Nature". "I Can Dream About You", his most successful song, reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1984 and No. 12 on the UK Singles Chart in 1985. The James Brown song "Living in America", which Hartman co-wrote and produced, was even more successful, reaching #4 on March 1, 1986.

Lisa Angelle is an American country music singer-songwriter. During the 1980s and 1990s, Angelle wrote songs for several country artists including Wynonna Judd, who reached number one on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in 1991 with "I Saw the Light", co-written by pop singer Andrew Gold. As a recording artist, Angelle released two singles with EMI America Records in 1985, but did not release an album until 2000 via DreamWorks Nashville. She also recorded the theme song for the CBS TV series Beauty and the Beast, which aired 1987 to 1990.

In addition, the former plays rhythm guitar on the song. Other notable songs on the album include a cover of "One Night", a #1 hit by Elvis Presley from 1958, and "I'm Your Man" by Leonard Cohen. The album also features "Another Mind Gone", which was the first album track in thirteen years co-written by Cocker— in the interim, he had also received songwriting credits for the songs “We Stand Alone” and “Now That You’re Gone”. “Another Mind Gone” was dedicated to B. J. Wilson, Cocker's former bandmate and a friend.

Chameleon is the sixth album by the American singing trio Labelle. Though Patti LaBelle's autobiography Don't Block The Blessings revealed that LaBelle planned a follow-up to Chameleon entitled Shaman, the album never materialized. The trio would not release another new recording until 2008's Back to Now. The final album was moderately successful peaking at #94 at the Pop charts and #21 on the R&B charts. Only two singles made the charts which were "Get You Somebody New" which peaked at #50 on the Pop charts and their memorable song "Isn't It A Shame" which peaked at #18 on the R&B charts. "Isn't It A Shame" was later sampled by Nelly on his 2004 hit, "My Place", which featured Jaheim.

Right from the Heart is an album by the American pop singer Johnny Mathis that was released on March 18, 1985, by Columbia Records. It was his first album without songs that were previously recorded by other artists. The title track is one of the album's four ballads that, along with four of the remaining six up-tempo tracks, delve into the subject of relationships, but it is the synth-driven "Step by Step" and the anthemic "Hold On" on which Mathis take a break from the usual focus on love songs. The former offers the hope that can be found in change that comes gradually until "I can see the way free from yesterday to a new beginning". The latter stresses the importance of being oneself: "Life is a party. Why don't you come the way you are?"
