Fahrenkrog was born in Colorado in 1979. When she was 15, she was an exchange student to France with Rotary International. She completed high school at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire. Upon graduating, she attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, spending one year at the London School of Economics in England.
After graduating from college, Fahrenkrog took a job with Schwab Capital Markets and worked there until 2004 when she left to train full-time for the Olympics. Throughout the five years that she was training, she held a marketing job at Northwestern Mutual.
Fahrenkrog is a four-time member of the United States Archery Team (2004–2008) and former Chula Vista Olympic Training Center Resident Athlete (2006–2007). She began archery in the winter of 2002 after graduating from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, where she majored in Economics. In 2004, she tried out for her first Olympic team but just missed it, finishing 6th at the trials. In 2008, she tried for a second time and placed 7th in the first round of trials. After taking three months off due to a tear in her teres minor, she failed to advance to the third round of trials for the Beijing team, finishing 15th.
Despite not making either Olympic team, Joy did attend both the Athens and the Beijing games. In 2004, she went as a spectator and in 2008, she had a job as a journalist working for the Olympic News Service. In 2008, she was also part of two ad campaigns, one for Budweiser and one for Polo Ralph Lauren. Videos of each can be found on her website.
Fahrenkrog has been a consistent top 8 finisher in national-level events and has competed internationally in Bulgaria, Mexico, the Netherlands, China and Korea. Highlights of her career include 2nd and 3rd-place finishes at the US Indoor Nationals in 2006 and 2007 as well as a 1st-place finish at the World Ranking Event in Puerto Rico in 2007.
Before picking up a bow, Fahrenkrog was a rower. She competed at Exeter, in college and after college for a total of 7 years. Her most notable accomplishment was a gold medal finish at the Henley Women's Regatta in England in 2001. She has also run two marathons for charity, the Boston Marathon in 2002 for cancer research and the Rock 'n' Roll San Diego Marathon in 2008 for Team Darfur.
While in California, she volunteered at San Diego 211, Endow Chula Vista, Eastlake Church and the Purple Palace. Throughout her archery career, she has been actively involved with Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) and has spent time working with kids with the North Dakota Shooting Sports Program and local clubs in Massachusetts and California.
Fahrenkrog now lives in Luzern, Switzerland, where she married Tim Foster on June 5, 2009. The pair were engaged at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing on August 18, 2008. [1]

Jordan Melissa Hasay is an American distance runner. She grew up in Arroyo Grande, California, and attended Mission College Preparatory High School in San Luis Obispo. She was unanimously selected 2008 Girls High School Athlete of the Year by the voting panel at Track and Field News. In March 2009, she became the ninth high school athlete and third woman on the cover of Track and Field News magazine. She attended the University of Oregon, where she studied business administration and competed on the cross country and track and field teams earning 18 All-American honors, 2011 Mile and 3,000 meters NCAA titles. Her father was a high school basketball star in Pennsylvania, and her mother was a national level swimmer in her native England. Jordan Hasay is no longer coached by Alberto Salazar due to his suspension.

She has been an Olympic and World champion, has been ranked #1 in the World, has been the #1 American pole vaulter since 2006, and has won a total of 17 US National Championships. She holds the world indoor pole vault record at 5.03 m. She holds the American women's pole vault record indoors. In 2008, she won the U.S. Olympic trials, setting an American record of 4.92 m and won a silver medal in the Beijing Olympics. She won the gold medal at the London Olympics on August 6, 2012. He is current training to make his 5th Olympic trials and 3rd Olympic team. In spring 2020 he is hoping to become the fourth human being ever to break 4-minute mile on the track at 40 years old.
Sally Jepkosgei Kipyego is a Kenyan-born American long- and middle-distance runner. She was the silver medalist in the 10,000 metres at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics and the silver medalist in the same race at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She has a personal record of 30:38.35 minutes for that event and her 5000 metres best of 14:30.42 minutes makes her the second fastest Kenyan woman for the distance.
Adriana Nelson, née Pirtea is a Romanian American long-distance runner who competes in distances up to the marathon. She competed at the 2005 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships and 2006 IAAF World Road Running Championships for Romania, then at the 2012 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships for the United States. Shannon Solares-Rowbury is an American middle-distance runner from San Francisco, California. After competing collegiately for Duke University, she turned professional in 2007. Rowbury has represented the United States at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Summer Olympics. She also represented the United States at the World Championships in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017, winning the bronze medal in the 1500 meters in 2009. In 2015, Rowbury helped set the world record with the U.S. team for the distance medley relay event, and set a then-American record for 1500 meters on July 17, 2015, breaking Mary Slaney's 32 year-old mark with a time of 3:56.29.

In 2024, she placed second in the marathon at the US Olympic Trials, qualifying for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
