Judge Dredd is a comic book series by IDW Publishing, based on the character of Judge Dredd from the British comic magazines 2000 AD and Judge Dredd Megazine . The series is made up of an ongoing series, Judge Dredd, and occasionally a miniseries. There is also a third series, titled Judge Dredd - Classics, which is a republishing, in color, of the original British stories and is not part of the IDW continuity.

Judge Dredd

In November 2012, IDW Publishing began the Judge Dredd monthly series written by Duane Swierczynski and illustrated by Nelson Daniel. [1] The series ended after 30 issues. [2]

The series included several long-term plot elements, such as rebelling robots, a Judge serial killer and the moon Titan, where ex-Judges go.

Judge Dredd – Year One

The four-issue mini-series Judge Dredd – Year One began publishing in March 2013, and is set during Dredd's first year as a judge. [3]

Judge Dredd – Classics

Starting with a Free Comic Book Day issue in May 2013, and an ongoing series later in July 2013, IDW began publishing classic Judge Dredd stories in full color. The FCBD issue contains the first Judge Death story. From there, the series continued with the "Block Mania" / "The Apocalypse War" storyline. [4] Eight issues in the ongoing series were released.

Mars Attacks Judge Dredd

In September 2013, a new four-issue mini-series started as part of the IDW-wide Mars Attacks cross-over event. [5] The Martians have decided on a subtler infiltration of Earth...through Mega-City One's criminal element. They are more than willing to sit back and have their Earth-bound agents buy out the competition with legitimate tactics. For now.

Judge Dredd – Mega-City Two: City of Courts

Starting in January 2014, IDW began publishing a five-issue mini-series titled Mega-City Two: City of Courts. [6] The city that has unfolded from the remains of Hollywood is not quite like Mega-City One. The Judges are forced to carry stun-guns only and nearly everyone is interested in fame and glory — quite possibly, before justice. Dredd, however, is keeping his cool as he's sent in to teach Mega City Two a lesson.

Judge Dredd – Anderson, Psi-Division

Starting in August 2014, IDW began publishing a four-issue mini-series titled Anderson, Psi-Division, which continued to explore Dredd's early years as a follow-up to the Judge Dredd – Year One series. [7]

Judge Dredd – Classics – The Dark Judges

In January 2015, IDW started publishing a five-issue mini-series that was a reprint compilation of classic Judge Death tales. [8]

Judge Dredd – Mega-City Zero

Starting in December 2015, IDW began publishing a series titled Mega-City Zero. Ushering in a brave new era, Judge Dredd awakens to find that Mega-City One has been sent back to the Stone Age, with city blocks overgrown and nary a citizen to be found. Witness as Dredd struggles to unravel the mystery as he copes with being just an ordinary Joe.... [9] 12 issues were released.

Judge Dredd – Cry of the Werewolf

In March 2017, IDW published a one-shot titled Cry of the Werewolf. [10] This was a reprint of a story from 2012 that inspired the Deviations issue of Judge Dredd.

Judge Dredd – Deviations

In May 2018, IDW published a one-shot titled Deviations. [11]

Judge Dredd – The Blessed Earth

Starting in April 2017, IDW began publishing a new series titled The Blessed Earth that takes place 10 years after the events of Mega-City Zero. [12] 9 issues were released, including a 2017 Annual issue.

Judge Dredd – Funko Universe

In May 2017, IDW published a one-shot titled Funko Universe. [13] This was a crossover of the Judge Dredd universe with the Funko universe, Funko the maker of the popular Pop! figure line.

Judge Dredd – Under Siege

In May 2018, IDW began publishing a 4-issue series titled Under Siege. [14]

Judge Dredd – Toxic

In October 2018, IDW began publishing a 4-issue series titled Toxic. [15]

Judge Dredd – False Witness

In February 2020, IDW began publishing a 4-issue series titled False Witness. [16] The last three issues are delayed from their expected publication schedule due to Coronavirus.

Judge Dredd – 100-Page Giant

In March 2020, IDW published a one-shot story collection titled 100-Page Giant. This collection was well received as a jumping on point for getting familiar with Judge Dredd. [17] [18]

The story concludes with an expeditionary force of humans volunteering to embark on a counterattack on Mars, in which the Earth force attacks the Martians in their manner. This necessitates the Martians that are still on Mars to defend their home world. The Earth attack forces, after destroying the Martian cities and killing the Martians, depart just before Mars is destroyed in the predicted cataclysm, thus ensuring the peace and safety of Earth as the Martian race is seemingly doomed to extinction.

IDW Publishing US comic publisher

IDW Publishing is an American publisher of comic books, graphic novels, art books, and comic strip collections. It was founded in 1999 as the publishing division of Idea and Design Works, LLC (IDW), itself formed in 1999, and is regularly recognized as the fifth-largest comic book publisher in the United States, behind Marvel, DC, Dark Horse and Image Comics, ahead of other major comic book publishers such as Archie, Boom!, Dynamite, Valiant and Oni Press. Andy Diggle British comic book writer

Andy Diggle is a British comic book writer and former editor of the weekly anthology series 2000 AD. He is best known for his work on Adam Strange and Green Arrow for DC Comics as well as his creator-owned series The Losers and a run on Hellblazer for DC's Vertigo imprint, and for his stints on Thunderbolts and Daredevil at Marvel. Rob Williams (comics)

Rob Williams is a Welsh comics writer, working mainly for 2000 AD. He is currently writing books for DC Comics and its Vertigo imprint.

There have been three main publishers of the comic book series bearing the name Transformers based on the toy lines of the same name. The first series was produced by Marvel Comics from 1984 to 1991, which ran for 80 issues and produced four spin-off miniseries. This was followed by a second volume titled Transformers: Generation 2, which ran for 12 issues starting in 1993. The second major series was produced by Dreamwave Productions from 2002 to 2004 with multiple limited series as well, and within multiple story continuities, until the company became bankrupt in 2005. The third series is currently being produced by IDW Publishing starting with an issue #0 in October 2005 and a regular series starting in January 2006. There are also several limited series being produced by IDW as well. In addition to these three main publishers, there have also been several other smaller publishers with varying degrees of success.

Rufus Dayglo

Rufus Dayglo is a British comics artist working in comics, illustration, and storyboards. He is working for 2000 AD and Titan Books in the United Kingdom, and DC Vertigo, IDW Publishing and Image Comics in the United States. His Tank Girl work has also been published by Ankama Editions in France in 2011.
