They have been Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 1996. He is the all-time highest run scorer for Nepal in the ODI format and the first Nepalese player to score 1,000 runs in ODI cricket. He was named captain of the Nepal cricket team in November 2022.

Known for his aggressive batting,he became the fastest scorer of a T20I century,off just 34 balls,in the opening match of the 2022 Asian Games against Mongolia. This record was previously held by David Miller,Rohit Sharma and S Wickramasekara,all of whom had taken 35 balls to score the hundred.
Kushal Bhurtel is a Nepalese cricketer. He made his T20I debut against the Netherlands on 17th April 2021 and his ODI debut against Papua New Guinea on 7th September 2021.
The 2020–21 Nepal Tri-Nation Series was a Twenty20 international cricket tournament that took place in April 2021 in Nepal. The participating teams were Nepal,Malaysia and the Netherlands. The matches were all played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. The tournament was played in a double round-robin format,followed by a final between the top two sides.

The 2021–22 Nepal T20I Tri-Nation Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that took place in Nepal from 28 March to 4 April 2022. The participating teams were the hosts Nepal along with Malaysia and Papua New Guinea. The matches were played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. On 12 March 2022,the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) confirmed all the fixtures.
The 2024 Nepal Tri-Nation Series was the first round of the 2023–2027 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 cricket tournament took place in Nepal in February 2024. The tri-nation series was contested by the men's national teams of Namibia,Nepal and Netherlands. The matches were played as One Day International (ODI) fixtures.
