The Minnesota House of Representatives is the lower house of the U.S. state of Minnesota's legislature. It operates in conjunction with the Minnesota Senate,the state's upper house,to craft and pass legislation,which is then subject to approval by the governor of Minnesota.
The Minnesota Legislature is the bicameral legislature of the U.S. state of Minnesota consisting of two houses:the Senate and the House of Representatives. Senators are elected from 67 single-member districts. In order to account for decennial redistricting,members run for one two-year term and two four-year terms each decade. They are elected for four-year terms in years ending in 2 and 6,and for two-year terms in years ending in 0. Representatives are elected for two-year terms from 134 single-member districts formed by dividing the 67 senate districts in half.
Roger Moe is an American politician who served as a member and majority leader of the Minnesota Senate. He was the Democratic nominee for governor in the 2002 Minnesota gubernatorial election.
James Murray Vickerman was an American politician from Minnesota who served as Minnesota State Senator,first elected in 1986 in the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party's "firestorm" that swept southwestern Minnesota during the height of the 1980s Midwestern farm crisis. In that election,he unseated incumbent Senator Doran Isackson,winning by a substantial margin. He was re-elected in 1990,1992,1996,2000,2002 and 2006. On February 22,2010,he announced that he would not seek an eighth term,noting that he was doing so "with the satisfaction that when it's done right,our government can and does serve people." His term officially ended on January 3,2011.
Satveer Singh Chaudhary is an American criminal defense and immigration lawyer. He is also a politician and a former member of the Minnesota State Senate and the Minnesota House of Representatives serving from 1996 to 2010. During his fourteen-year tenure,Chaudhary represented portions of Anoka and Ramsey counties in the northern Minneapolis and St Paul metropolitan area. The Senate District at the time of his departure from politics was known as Senate District 50. However,Chaudhary also represented the area in the Minnesota House from 1997-2000 as District 52A;and in the Senate from 2001 to 2002 as Senate District 52. While in office,Chaudhary served as a member of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party,was the first Asian American legislator in Minnesota history. He was also the first South Asian senator in American history and for a time was the highest ranking political official of South Asian descent,as well as one of the youngest senators in that state's history.
Patricia Torres Ray is a Colombian-American politician and former member of the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL),she represented District 63,which includes portions of southeastern Minneapolis and eastern Richfield in Hennepin County in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. She is the first Latina woman to serve in the Minnesota Senate. She ran for Congress in Minnesota's 5th district in 2018 to succeed Congressman Keith Ellison,but lost the primary to Ilhan Omar. In November 2021,she announced that she would not run for reelection in 2022.

She was unseated by Republican David Brown in the 2010 general election.

The election coincided with the election of the other house of the Legislature,the Minnesota House of Representatives,and all other statewide elections.
