Zonguldak is a city and the capital of Zonguldak Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey. It was established in 1849 as a port town for the nearby coal mines in Ereğli and the coal trade remains its main economic activity. According to the 2009 census, Zonguldak has a population of 108,792. The current mayor is Ömer Selim Alan, representing the AKP. Zonguldak is one of the highest income economies among Turkish cities.

Filyos (Hisarönü) is a belde town in Çaycuma district of Zonguldak Province, Turkey. It is a coastal town of the Black Sea Region at 41°33′N32°01′E situated at the mouth of the Filyos River. It is 18 kilometres (11 mi) to Çaycuma and 27 kilometres (17 mi) to Zonguldak. In the ancient history the name of the town was Tieion referring to the founder of the town. The settlement was declared a seat of township in 1954. The main economic activity of the town is firebrick industry. Tourism is also promising. Its population is 5268.

Perşembe, Zonguldak Town in Zonguldak Province, Turkey

Perşembe is a belde (town) in Çaycuma district of Zonguldak Province, Turkey. It is situated in the mountainous area which runs parallel to Black Sea coast at 41°25′N32°10′E. It is to the east of both Çaycuma and Zonguldak. The distance to Çaycuma is 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) and to Zonguldak is 59 kilometres (37 mi). The population of Perşembe is 2659 as of 2010. The settlement was probably founded four centuries ago. The original population of the village was composed of migrants from Caucasus. Also people from other parts of Turkey were settled in the village. The settlement was declared a seat of township in 1990.

Saltukova Town in Zonguldak Province, Turkey

Saltukova is a belde (town) in Çaycuma district of Zonguldak Province, Turkey. It is situated between the two ranges of mountains which run parallel to Black Sea. At 41°31′N32°06′E it is 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) north of Çaycuma and 45 kilometres (28 mi) east of Zonguldak. The population of Saltukova is 3886 as of 2010. The name of the town was mentioned in a 16th-century Ottoman documents as Arz'ı Saltuk or Saltukeli. After the construction of Ankara-Zonguldak railroad in 1939, the population of the settlement was increased. During the Second World War a military airport was constructed in Saltukova. Although it was abandoned after the war, in 2009 it was renewed and put into service as Zonguldak Airport. In 1988, the settlement was declared as a seat of township. A natural gas thermal plant is planned to be constructed in Saltukova.
