K Kalyan (born 1 January 1970) is an Indian songwriter and music composer known for his works in Kannada film industry. He is also called as "Premakavi. [1]
K.Kalyan entered the film industry at the age of 17 as a Music director cum lyricist for Kannada movies. He learnt Karnatic classical music under the guidance of Chenna Krishnappa. In the early days, he worked under music director Hamsalekha. [2]
K.Kalyan has written almost 3000 songs. [3] He has worked with many music directors including Ilayaraja, Hamsalekha, A.R.Rahman, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, Vijaya Bhaskar, Rajan-Nagendra, Upendra kumar, C. Ashwath, Singeetham Shrinivasa Rao, Manjula Gururaj, V. Ravichandran, Ananth Kamath M, V. Manohar, Mano Murthy, L.N. Gangaraju, professionally known as Hamsalekha, is an Indian film composer and songwriter who works in South Indian cinema, predominantly in the Kannada film industry since the late 1980s. He is also a screenplay writer, dialogue writer, instrumentalist and conductor, having composed and written over 500 albums.
Premaloka is a 1987 Indian romantic musical film directed by Ravichandran, in his directorial debut, and produced by N. Veeraswamy under Sri Eshwari Productions. The film, based on the 1982 film Grease 2, was made simultaneously in Kannada and Tamil with the Tamil version titled Paruva Ragam. It stars Ravichandran in the lead role, alongside Juhi Chawla, Leelavathi and Lokesh in supportive roles in the Kannada version, while Jaishankar and Manorama reprise their respective roles in the Tamil version. Vishnuvardhan, Ambareesh, Tiger Prabhakar, Srinath and Urvashi made guest appearances in the film. Thengai Srinivasan, Cho Ramaswamy and Delhi Ganesh portray the respective roles of Ambareesh, Prabhakar and Srinath in the Tamil version.
Jayant Kaikini is a poet, short story writer, playwright, columnist in Kannada and a lyricist in Kannada cinema. He has so far published six anthologies of short stories, four books of poetry, three plays and a collection of essays. He is valued as one of the best writers in Kannada literature and has revolutionized the field by giving it a fresh new perspective. He has bagged many notable awards like 'Karnataka Sahitya Academy' award, Kusumagraj Award, Katha Award, DSC Prize for South Asian Literature amidst others. Kaikini is regarded as one of the most significant writers in Kannada today. Kaikini has been conferred the honorary doctorate from Tumkur University.
Muthina Haara is a 1990 Indian Kannada-language war drama film directed by Rajendra Singh Babu. It stars Vishnuvardhan and Suhasini Maniratnam in the lead roles. K. S. Ashwath, Kavya and Ramkumar feature in supporting roles. The film speaks of the toll of warfare on a soldier's family. A portion of the core plot of the film is partially based on Ernest Hemingway's 1929 novel, A Farewell to Arms.
Chandramukhi Pranasakhi is a 1999 Indian Kannada-language film, directed by Seetharam Karanth, starring Ramesh Aravind, Prema and Bhavana. It's one of the highest grossing Kannada films of the year 1999. The movie is considered one of the best movies in the career of Ramesh Aravind. At the 1999–2000 Karnataka State Film Awards, the film won two awards, Third Best Film and Best Music Director. The film was later remade in Telugu language as Naalo Unna Prema.

Raja Huli is a 2013 Indian Kannada-language comedy-drama film directed by Guru Deshpande and written by S. R. Prabhakaran. Produced by K. Manju's home production, the film stars Yash in title role, along with Meghana Raj, Vasishta N. Simha, Charan Raj, Mithra, and Chikkanna in supporting roles. The soundtrack and score are composed by Hamsalekha. The film, which made its theatrical release on 1 November 2013, coinciding with the Kannada Rajyotsava festival became a commercial hit at the box office, becoming Yash's 3rd consecutive hit after Drama and Googly. The movie is a remake of 2012 Tamil movie Sundarapandian. The success of this movie paved the way for Yash to emerge as the top star of Sandalwood.
Bhajarangi is a 2013 Indian Kannada-language fantasy action film directed by A. Harsha, who co-wrote the script with Nanda Kishore and Shakthi. The film stars Shiva Rajkumar, Aindrita Ray, Madhu Guruswamy, Rukmini Vijayakumar and Saurav Lokesh. The music was composed by Arjun Janya, while Swamy. J. Gowda and Deepu. S. Kumar handled the cinematography and editing of the film.
Power is a 2014 Indian masala film directed by K. Madesh and features Puneeth Rajkumar and Trisha in lead roles, alongside Prabhu, Kelly Dorjee, Rangayana Raghu and Sadhu Kokila in supporting roles. It is a remake of the 2011 Telugu film Dookudu which itself was inspired by the 2003 German tragicomedy film Good Bye, Lenin!. The story revolves around Bharath Kumar (Puneeth), a police officer who’s pursuing underworld don Naik (Kelly), who operates from Spain and Mumbai. Naik and his henchmen had tried to kill Bharath’s father Krishna Prasad (Prabhu), an honest MLA and a staunch follower of late actor Rajkumar. Circumstances force Bharath to act as an MLA, a reality show director and a cop, three roles which he portrays with finesse. While in Spain, Bharath falls in love with Prashanthi (Trisha). But how he plans to eliminate Naik and company forms the mainstay of the plot.

A remake of the 2012 Tamil film, Manam Kothi Paravai, Anjada Gandu is Sathish Neenasam's first commercial film as a solo hero, and was released 31 January 2014.
Namo Bhootatma is a 2014 Indian Kannada horror comedy film directed by Murali in his debut. The film was a remake of the 2014 Tamil film Yaamirukka Bayamey, which itself was based on the Korean movie The Quiet Family. It stars Komal Kumar, Iswarya Menon, Anaswara Kumar, Gayathri Iyer, and Harish Raj in the lead roles. Telugu comedian Ali made his second Kannada movie with this film.
