Career

K.Kalyan entered the film industry at the age of 17 as a Music director cum lyricist for Kannada movies. He learnt Karnatic classical music under the guidance of Chenna Krishnappa. In the early days, he worked under music director Hamsalekha. [2]

K.Kalyan has written almost 3000 songs. [3] He has worked with many music directors including Ilayaraja, Hamsalekha, A.R.Rahman, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, Vijaya Bhaskar, Rajan-Nagendra, Upendra kumar, C. Ashwath, Singeetham Shrinivasa Rao, Manjula Gururaj, V. Ravichandran, V. Manohar, Mano Murthy, L.N. Premaloka is a 1987 romantic musical film directed by Ravichandran in his directorial debut and produced by N. Veeraswamy under the banner Sri Eshwari Productions. Based on the 1982 film Grease 2, the film was made simultaneously in Kannada and Tamil with the Tamil version titled Paruva Ragam. It stars Ravichandran in the lead role alongside Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla. Leelavathi and Lokesh play supportive roles in the Kannada version while Jaishankar and Manorama reprise their respective roles in the Tamil version. Vishnuvardhan, Ambareesh, Tiger Prabhakar, Srinath and Urvashi made guest appearances in the film. Thengai Srinivasan, Cho Ramaswamy and Delhi Ganesh portray the respective roles of Ambareesh, Prabhakar and Srinath in the Tamil version.

Jayant Kaikini is a poet, short story writer, playwright, columnist in Kannada and a lyricist in Kannada cinema. He is valued as one of the best writers in Kannada literature and has revolutionized the field by giving it a fresh new perspective. He has bagged many notable awards like 'Karnataka Sahitya Academy' award, Kusumagraj Award, Katha Award, DSC Prize for South Asian Literature amidst others. Kaikini is regarded as one of the most significant writers in Kannada today. Kaikini has been conferred the honorary doctorate from Tumkur University.

Chandramukhi Pranasakhi is a 1999 Indian Kannada-language film, directed by Seetharam Karanth, starring Ramesh Aravind, Prema and Bhavana. It's one of the highest grossing Kannada films of the year 1999. The movie is considered one of the best movies in the career of Ramesh Aravind. At the 1999–2000 Karnataka State Film Awards, the film won two awards, Third Best Film and Best Music Director. The film was later remade in Telugu language as Naalo Unna Prema.

Arjun Janya is an Indian film score soundtrack composer and singer. Arjun made his film debut in the 2006 Kannada film Autograph Please. Since then he has composed and scored music for successful films such as Birugaali (2009), Sanchari (2010), Kempegowda (2011), Varadanayaka (2012), Victory (2013), Vajrakaya (2015), Mukunda Murari (2016). Manju's home production, The film stars Yash in title role, along with Meghana Raj, Vasishta N. Simha, Charan Raj, Mithra and Chikkanna in supporting roles. The soundtrack and score for the film is composed by Hamsalekha. The film, which made its theatrical release on 1 November 2013, co-inciding with the Kannada Rajyotsava festival became a commercial hit at the box office, becoming Yash's 3rd consecutive hit after Drama and Googly. The movie is a remake of 2012 Tamil movie Sundarapandian.Trivia is that character named Rajahuli is played by Rangayana Raghu in Darshans film Suntaragaali (2006). It stars Komal Kumar, Iswarya Menon, Anaswara Kumar, Gayathri Iyer, and Harish Raj in the lead roles. Telugu comedian Ali made his second Kannada movie with this film. It's also dubbed in Hindi with the same name. A sequel Namo Bhoothathma 2 released in 2023.

Mungaru Male 2 is a 2016 Indian Kannada romantic drama film co-written and directed by Shashank. It stars Ganesh, Neha Shetty and Ravichandran with Shilpa Manjunath, Aindrita Ray, P. Ravi Shankar and Sadhu Kokila in supporting roles. Although not a sequel, the film's title came as the second installment to the film Mungaru Male (2006). The film found its theatrical release worldwide on 9 September 2016, while in Karnataka, the release was pushed to 10 September 2016 because of the Cauvery water dispute. It was a commercial success at the box office by collecting over ₹20 crore in its lifetime theatrical run.

...Re is a 2016 Indian Kannada comedy film written and directed by Sunil Kumar Desai. The film has an ensemble cast consisting of veteran actors: Ramesh Aravind, Anant Nag, Master Hirannaiah, Loknath, Shivaram, Tennis Krishna, Ramesh Bhat, Vaijanath Biradar, Sharath Lohithaswa, Suman, G. K. Govinda Rao among others. Harshika Poonacha and debutant actress Suman play female leads in the film.

Kotigobba 2 in Kannada Mudinja Ivana Pudi in Tamil is a 2016 Indian action film directed by K. S. Ravikumar. The film features Sudeepa and Nithya Menen in the lead roles. The film was simultaneously produced by Rockline Venkatesh and M. Babu in Kannada and Tamil languages. Despite the title, the film is not a direct sequel to the 2001 film, Kotigobba.

D. Suman Kittur is an Indian journalist, film director and lyricist working in Kannada cinema. She began as an independent director with Slum Bala (2008), before working on films such as Kallara Santhe (2009), Edegarike (2012) and Kiragoorina Gayyaligalu (2016). Most of her films deal with anti-social elements. She is one of the few women directors to win a state award.

Ranatantra is a 2016 Indian Kannada-language romantic action thriller film written and directed by Aadiram making his debut. and produced by S.Ramesh. It features Vijay Raghavendra and Hariprriya in the lead roles. The supporting cast includes Sathyajith, Bhajarangi Madhu, Vishal Hedge and Aishwarya Sindhogi. The movie is a remake of 2008 Tamil movie Silandhi which itself was loosely based on the English movie I Know What You Did Last Summer. The movie was dubbed in Telugu as Suryakala, in Tamil as Idi Pedda Saithan and in Hindi as Agniputra. The score and soundtrack for the film is by M. Karthik and the cinematography is by Rajesh K.Narayan.

Kaanadante Maayavadanu is a 2020 romantic fantasy Kannada film directed by debutante Raj Pathipati and produced by Back Benchers Motion Picture. The film gets it title from the opening lines of the song "Kaanadante Maayavadanu" "Namma Shiva kailasa serikondanu" from the movie Chalisuva Modagalu. The film stars Vikas and Sindhu Lokanath.

Alli Ramachari Illi Brahmachari is a 1992 Indian Kannada film directed by B. Ramamurthy. The film stars Jaggesh in a double role along with Swathi Ganguly, Prathibha and Abhijith. The music was scored by Hamsalekha. Thriller Manju worked as the stunt director.

Nandeesha is a 2012 Indian Kannada-language film directed by Om Saiprakash, starring Komal Kumar, Parul Yadav and Malavika in lead roles. The film is a remake of the Malayalam film Thilakkam (2003).
