Kishin Wadhwaney, better known as K. R. Wadhwaney was an Indian author and sports journalist. [1] [2] [3]

Biography

Wadhwaney was born in Karachi (in undivided India, now in Pakistan). Later he moved to Lucknow after partition in 1947. [4] From where he moved to Delhi during 1960s. He had served as the chief sports editor for The Indian Express for more than three decades. [5] Wadhwaney had been known for his close association with organizations for sports journalists like Sports Journalists’ Federation of India, Asian Sports Journalists’ Union etc. At Sports Journalists’ Federation of India he served as the founding secretary. [6] He had written altogether 31 books, which were primarily sports themed covering not only popular sports like Cricket but also less popular sports like Hockey, Swimming etc. [5]

Death

Wadhwaney died on October 24, 2019, at the age of 90. [7]

Indian Airlines Flight 410 was a domestic passenger flight from Calcutta to Palam Airport, Delhi, India. On 20 December 1978 the flight was hijacked by Bholanath Pandey and Devendra Pandey shortly before landing at Palam Airport. The hijackers claimed to be members of the Indian Youth Congress, and demanded the release of Indira Gandhi, withdrawal of the charges against her son Sanjay Gandhi, and the resignation of the Janata Party government. The hijackers surrendered shortly after 60 passengers managed to escape.

K. R. Meera is an Indian author and journalist, who writes in Malayalam. She was born in Sasthamkotta, Kollam district in Kerala. She worked as a journalist in Malayala Manorama but later resigned to concentrate more on writing. She started writing fiction in 2001 and her first short story collection Ormayude Njarambu was published in 2002. Since then she has published five collections of short stories, two novellas, five novels and two children's books. She won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 2009 for her short-story, Ave Maria. Khatau Thakkar, popularly known as K. P. Thakkar and KP, was an Indian athlete, swimmer and diving champion, who a gold medals in 1951 Asian Games in men's 3m springboard and 10m platform. Thakkar won a bronze medal in High Board Diving at the 1954 Asian Games, which was held in Manila. He was a National Diving Champion for several years. He was awarded the Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2014 by the Government of India. He had won three Asian Games medals.
