K. S. Radhakrishnan is an Indian scholar, writer, philosopher, and politician. He is currently the state vice-president of the Bharatiya Janatha Party (BJP) in Kerala. [2] [3] [4] In March 2024, he was announced as the BJP candidate from the Ernakulam Constituency for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. [5] [6]

Radhakrishnan formerly served as the Chairman of the Kerala Public Service Commission. [7] Prior to that, he was the Vice Chancellor of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady from 2004 to 2008. [8]

Education and career

Born in Ernakulam, he was educated at the Maharaja's College, Ernakulam, receiving his B.A. and M.A. in philosophy. [9] He later obtained a Ph.D. in Advaita Vedanta from Calicut University in 1994. [10]

Radhakrishnan specializes in Advaita System, Gandhian Studies and Philosophy of Science. [11] He was a member of the governing body of Indian Council of Philosophical Research, New Delhi from 2006 to 2009. [12]

<i>Janmabhumi</i> Indian newspaper

Janmabhumi is an Indian Malayalam-language daily newspaper, owned by Mathruka Pracharanalayam Ltd. and headquartered in Kochi, Kerala. It was launched as an evening paper from Kozhikode on 28 April 1977. From 14 November 1977 onwards it was upgraded to a daily newspaper publishing from Ernakulam. Currently Janmabhumi has nine editions. The newspaper is politically aligned with the BJP.

Thuravoor Viswambharan, was a Sanskrit scholar, active social worker and writer from the Thuravoor village in the southern state Kerala in India. He was an expert professor on Hindu epics Ramayana, Mahabharata and Vedas. He was a professor in Malayalam, Sanskrit, Indian Mythology and Vedic Science at Maharaja's College Ernakulam, Cochin. He was the state president of Tapasya Kala Sahithya Vedi and the founder president of Vishwa Samvad Kendra Kerala. He made a brief foray into politics as the BJP candidate for the Thrippunithura constituency in the state assembly election of 2016, although he was unsuccessful. He was the host of a popular television show named Bharatha Darshanam, which was telecast in Amrita TV on the basis of Mahabharata, and went up to more than 3000 episodes. In this programme, he used to answer various questions regarding to Mahabharata, using his own view point and mixing various contemporary social issues. He was battling with cancer for a long time and died on 20 October 2017 at Sudheendra Mission Hospital in Ernakulam. He was cremated at Ravipuram Crematorium in Ernakulam. He is survived by his wife Prof. Kanchana, who was also his colleague in Maharaja's College, and their two daughters.

<i>Mayavi</i> (2007 film) 2007 Malayalam-language film directed by Shafi

Mayavi is a 2007 Indian Malayalam-language action comedy film directed by Shafi and written by the Rafi Mecartin duo, starring Mammootty in the title role with Sai Kumar, Manoj K. Jayan, Salim Kumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Gopika, Vijayaraghavan and Santhosh Jogi in supporting roles. It was a commercial success and was remade in Tamil as Vallakottai in 2010. The film was a major commercial success and was the highest grossing malayalam movie of the year.

The Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS) is a Sanskrit university in India established in 1993 in Kalady, Kerala. The foundation stone for the university was laid by Bharathi Tirtha Mahaswamiji of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham. Mundanat Leelavathy is a Malayalam writer, literary critic and educationist. She taught at various colleges in Kerala before retiring as Principal from Government Brennen College, Thalassery. During her long literary career, she won several awards including Sahitya Akademi Award and Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award. She is a contemporary of such noted critics in Malayalam including K. M. George, S. Guptan Nair, N. Krishna Pillai, P. K. Balakrishnan, M. K. Sanu and Sukumar Azhikode. Leelavathy is a recipient of the Padma Shri Award.

Sree Rama Varma High School, officially Sree Rama Varma Govt Model Higher Secondary School and popularly known as SRV High School) is the largest government-owned school in Kochi, Kerala, India. It was founded by the Kochi Royal family as the English Elementary School in 1845. The school was later named after King Rama Varma of the founding Kochi Royal family. After the independence of India from British rule in 1947, and the reorganization of the states of India in 1956, the school was handed over to the Government of Kerala, which now owns and operates it.

Kunnummal Surendran is an Indian politician from Kozhikode in the state of Kerala. He currently serves as the 11th President of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state. In March 2024, he was announced as the BJP candidate from the Wayanad Constituency for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, facing off against Rahul Gandhi.

C. R. Omanakkuttan was an Indian writer, humorist and cultural activist from the state of Kerala. He was awarded the 2010 Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Humour for his book Sree Bhoothanatha Vilasam Nair Hotel.

R. K. Damodaran is a poet and lyricist who has worked predominantly in the Malayalam movie industry. He also worked as a journalist in Mathrubhumi from 1982 to 2013. He has written lyrics for almost 3,600 songs in devotional, political, environmental, drama and light music genres, including two Sanskrit songs. He has worked in more than 100 Malayalam films and written songs like "Ravivarma Chithrathin", "Thalam Thettiya Tharatt", "Manjil Chekkerum", "Sukham", "Chandrakiranathin Chandanamunnum", "Thani Thankakkinapponkal" and "Pakalppoove".

The 2021 Kerala Legislative Assembly election was held in Kerala on 6 April 2021 to elect 140 members to the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly. The results were declared on 2 May.

Elections to local bodies in Kerala were held in December 2020. Polling took place over 3 days; on 8, 10 and 14 December, with the votes counted and results announced on 16 December.
