Christopher Brian Bridges, known professionally as Ludacris, is an American rapper and actor. Born in Champaign, Illinois, Ludacris moved to Atlanta, Georgia, at age nine, where he first began rapping. Starting out with a brief stint as a DJ, he formed his own record label, Disturbing tha Peace in the late 1990s, closing the decade with his debut album Incognegro (1999). The album was re-released as his major label debut, Back for the First Time (2000) upon signing with Def Jam Recordings. Its singles, "Southern Hospitality" and "What's Your Fantasy", became top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

In 2004, following the signing of Young Jeezy and hip-hop's overdominance of trap music, the division was folded into Def Jam.
Lloyd Polite Jr. is an American R&B singer. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and raised in Decatur, Georgia, he began his musical career as a member of the preteen-boy band N-Toon, which was formed by Joyce Irby in 1996. The group disbanded in 2001, and Polite signed with record executive Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. Records, an imprint of Def Jam Recordings in 2003 to pursue a solo career. His 2004 debut single, "Southside" peaked within the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 and led his debut studio album of the same name (2004), which entered the Billboard 200 at number 11. His second album, Street Love (2007) debuted at number two on the chart and was supported by the Billboard Hot 100-top 20 singles "You" and "Get It Shawty".

Life or Death is the debut studio album by American rapper C-Murder. It was released on March 17, 1998, by No Limit Records and Priority Records. It was produced by Beats By the Pound. Like most of No Limit's albums in the 1990s, the album was a success, peaking at number 3 on the US Billboard 200 and at number 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums; as well as number 21 on the Top Heatseekers. After debuting on the charts with 197,000 copies sold its first week out, Life or Death achieved platinum status moving over 2 million copies by the end of 1999. In its second week of release, the album charted at number 7 on the Billboard 200, then at number 10 in its third week.

The album, Chicken-n-Beer is musically similar to Ludacris' previous work, with his use of a fast, highly versatile flow. Some of the songs on the album take a political overtone.

Raymond Emile Poole better known by his stage name Mo B. Dick is an American rapper, singer, and music producer. He is a founding member of the production team the Medicine Men, which produced most of No Limit Records' releases from 1995 to 1999. During his stint at No Limit Records, he not only produced tracks, but was also a featured artist on over a dozen songs, As a member of Beats by the Pound, the production team collectively produced nearly all of the label's tracks. Mo B. Dick's own repertoire lists his production credits on over 170 recordings and has his own record label Out The Box Xploitations. Currently Mo B. Dick is working on projects for his new imprints, Out The Box Xploitations & OnHer and iNHer iNHerTainment, 8Ball and MJG, Mystikal, Tha Dogg Pound, T.I., Fiend, Gangsta Boo, OJ Da Juiceman, Frayser Boy, DJ Burn One and the Five Points Bakery, and producing songs for various movie soundtracks, TV shows, and video games.

The label included artists such as Snoop Dogg, Mercedes, Silkk the Shocker, Mystikal, Mia X, Mac, C-Murder, Magic, Romeo Miller, Fiend, Kane & Abel, and Soulja Slim. Anthony Boswell, head of Bout It Bout It Management, served as the vice president of operations as well as head of management for the label.

For several years in the 1990s, Big Boy Records ruled the hip hop music industry in New Orleans until Master P's No Limit Records and Birdman's Cash Money Records became powerhouse labels.
