The Medicine Men (formerly Beats by the Pound) are a New Orleans, Louisiana-based American music production team made up of KLC, Mo B. Dick, Craig B, Carlos Stephens, DJ Daryl, and Odell. [1]
The collective helped sell 30 million records for Master P's No Limit Records, from 1995 to 1999, as well the majority of releases from No Limit Records during the days it was distributed by Priority Records. [2] [3] They would later receive nomination for Producers of the Year and collectively be voted as one of Hip-Hop's "Thirty Most Powerful People" by The Source in 1999. From 1995 to 1999 many of The Medicine Men productions feature hooks from Mo B. Dick or Odell Vickers credited as a featured artist. [2]

Craig Stephen Lawson, known professionally as KLC, is an American record producer, DJ, and drummer. He found fame as a member of No Limit Records' in-house production team Beats by the Pound. Since leaving the label, he has been a member of the Medicine Men and has his own record label Overdose Entertainment aka Overdose Empire.
Sky's the Limit is the debut studio album by American rapper Magic. It was released on September 15, 1998, on No Limit Records, Tru Records and Priority Records. The record features production from Beats by the Pound, Mark in da Dark, and DJ Daryl, and guest appearances from almost the entire No Limit and Tru Records artists roster.
Life or Death is the debut studio album by American rapper C-Murder. It was released on March 24, 1998, by No Limit Records and Priority Records. It was produced by Beats By the Pound. Like most of No Limit's albums in the 1990s, the album was a success, peaking at number 3 on the US Billboard 200 and at number 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums; as well as number 21 on the Top Heatseekers. After debuting on the charts with 197,000 copies sold its first week out, Life or Death achieved platinum status moving over 2 million copies by the end of 1999. In its second week of release, the album charted at number 7 on the Billboard 200, then at number 10 in its third week.
My Balls and My Word is the debut studio album by American rapper Young Bleed. It was released on January 20, 1998, through No Limit/Priority Records. The production was handled by Happy Perez and Beats by the Pound, with Master P and C-Loc serving as executive producers. It features guest appearances from Lay-Lo, C-Loc, Master P, Lee Tyme, Lucky Knuckles, Fiend and Mystikal. The album was a success, reaching number 10 on the Billboard 200 and topping the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. In March 1998, the album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.
True is the third studio album released by rap group, TRU. The album was released on July 25, 1995 for No Limit Records and features production from Al "Baby Jesus" Eaton, Kenneth Darnell Franklin, Percy Robert Miller, and Raymond Emile Poole. Producer's Daryl Lee Anderson, Craig Stephen Lawson (Craig), Larry Dodson, Mark Ogleton (CMT), Shon Adams (E-A-Ski), and Vyshonne Miller are also featured on individual tracks. This was the group's first major released after two independent albums and it managed to make it to #25 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and #14 on the Top Heatseekers.

Fellow No Limit Soldiers Master P, C-Murder, Silkk the Shocker, Mr. Serv-On, Fiend, Mac, Kane & Abel, KLC, Mystikal, Mercedes, Mo B Dick, O'Dell and Big Ed are featured, along with Foxy Brown. The song "The Party Don't Stop" charted on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Airplay in August 1997.
Street Life is the third studio album released by New Orleans rapper, Fiend. It was released on July 6, 1999, for No Limit Records and was produced by Beats By the Pound. The album debuted and peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard 200 and the album hit No. 1 on the Top R&B/hip hop album charts selling a stellar 101,000 copies in its first week, much less than the 222,000 copies of the previous album's first week sales. staying on the Billboard 200 chart for 12 weeks. On October 22, 1999, Street Life was certified Gold by the RIAA for selling over 500,000 copies in the United States of America. The album was supported by two singles, "Talk It Like I Bring It" and "Mr. Whomp Whomp".

It was released on September 8, 1998 via No Limit/Penalty Recordings, making it the rapper's final record for the label. Production was handled by Beats By The Pound, with Master P serving as executive producer. It features guest appearances from Silkk the Shocker, C-Murder, Fiend, Master P, Mo B. Dick, Big Ed, Ghetto Commission, KLC, Mia X, Mr. Serv-On, Mystikal, O'Dell, Shad, Snoop Dogg and Soup Bone. The album peaked at number 21 on the Billboard 200, number 41 on the Heatseekers Albums and number 4 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums in the United States.
Black Mafia is the second studio album released by American hip hop duo Steady Mobb'n. It was released on November 24, 1998, through No Limit Records, and was produced by Beats By the Pound and Meech Wells; according to group member Billy Bavgate, the record was completed in one week. The only released single, "Ghetto Life", was a minor hit, but the album failed to match the major success of their 1997 debut Pre-Meditated Drama, peaking at #82 on the Billboard 200 and #19 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Steady Mobb'n departed No Limit thereafter. Most critics blame the albums lackluster sales and weak delivery on the account of DJ Daryl not being present on the album. Black Mafia had sold 21,000 copies in its first week.
Ghetto Organized is the only studio album by American hip hop group the Gambino Family. It was released on October 20, 1998, via No Limit Records and was entirely produced by Beats By The Pound. It features guest appearances from 241, Big Ed, C-Murder, Fiend, Full Blooded, Ghetto Commission, KLC, Mac, Magic, Master P, Mia X, Mo B. Dick, Mr. Serv-On, Mystikal, O'Dell, Porsha, QB, Silkk the Shocker and Snoop Dogg. The album peaked at number 17 on the Billboard 200 and number 3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart selling 160,000 copies in its first week, but the group never released a follow-up and have not been heard of since. The tracks "Studio B" and "Childhood Years" were released as promotional singles.

Dick. The album peaked at number 44 on the Billboard 200 and number 14 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in the United States. Its lead single "Pushin' Inside You" made it to number 97 on the Billboard Hot 100, and its second single "I Got the Hook Up!", which was previously included in 1998 crime comedy film I Got the Hook-Up soundtrack, reached number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Recording sessions took place at The Ice Cream Shop, at Westlake Audio and at The Village Recorder in Los Angeles, and at Enterprise Studios in Burbank, California. Production was handled by Beats By The Pound and Sons of Funk, with Master P serving as executive producer. It features guest appearances from C-Murder, Sons of Funk, Big Ed, Dolliolie, Fiend, KLC, Lil' Gotti, Magic, Mac, Mia X, Mr. Serv-On, O'Dell, Silkk the Shocker, Chub, Claude Achille, and Cool-Ass Alicis. The album peaked at number 66 on the Billboard 200 and number 16 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums only selling 31,000 copies in its first week. A music video for the single "Shoot' m up Movies" was released.

Lawson is credited on close to 300 studio recordings covering over 100 studio albums. Carlos Stephens is an American record producer and mixing engineer from New Orleans, Louisiana. He found fame as a member of No Limit Records' in-house production team, Beats by the Pound. He also was the only producer of No Limit to have outside distribution for an artist. Since leaving the label, he has founded his own record label Flame Entertainment. To date, Stephens has over 75 Million in credited record sales. Stephens has compiled nearly 900 Million in streams credited via Muso.Ai Stephens has worked on over sixty-five major projects and is credited with three #1 Singles, Fourteen gold albums, Ten platinum, Two double platinum, one Triple platinum, & one Quadruple Platinum Album
Raymond Emile Poole, better known by his stage name Mo B. Dick, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, music producer, and published author. He is a founding member of the production team the Medicine Men, which produced most of No Limit Records' releases from 1995 to 1999. During his stint at No Limit Records, he not only produced tracks, but was also a featured artist on over a dozen songs, as a member of Beats by the Pound, the production team collectively produced nearly all of the label's tracks. Mo B. Dick's own repertoire lists his production credits on over 170 recordings and has his own record label Out The Box Xploitations. Currently Mo B. Dick is working on projects for his new imprints, Out The Box Xploitations & OnHer and iNHer iNHerTainment, 8Ball and MJG, Mystikal, Tha Dogg Pound, Fiend, the late Gangsta Boo, OJ Da Juiceman, Frayser Boy, DJ Burn One and the Five Points Bakery, and producing songs for various movie soundtracks, TV shows, and video games.
No Limit Records is an American record company founded by Master P. The label's albums were distributed by Priority Records, Universal and Koch Records. The label included artists such as Snoop Dogg, Mercedes, Silkk the Shocker, Mystikal, Mia X, Mac, C-Murder, Magic, Romeo Miller, Fiend, Kane & Abel, and Soulja Slim. Anthony Boswell, head of Bout It Bout It Management, served as the vice president of operations as well as head of management for the label.
