The Kacchi Dargah–Bidupur Bridge (Hindi : कच्ची दरगाह-बिदुपुर सेतु), currently under construction, will span the river Ganges, connecting Kacchi Dargah in Patna and Bidupur in Hajipur in the Indian state of Bihar. [2] Upon completion in 2025, the bridge will provide an easy roadway link between the northern and southern parts of Bihar and will connect two major national highways, linking NH 31 to NH 322.

The project

Chief minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the construction of the 9.76 km-long (6.06 mi) bridge in August, 2015. [3] Upon completion in July 2023, the bridge will reduce the load on Mahatma Gandhi Setu and will also reduce the traffic in the capital city of Patna. The concrete-laying in a well foundation starting on 19 July 2017 on the Raghopur side. [4] 67 well foundations would be constructed in Ganga while total 20 well foundations will be laid in 'Diyara' area of both sides of Ganga. A JV of Daewoo E&C from Korea with Indian homegrown major L&T Construction is executing the Rs 3,115 crore bridge project which will be the longest bridge in India.

A bridge has been planned across the Ganges to connect Arrah and Chhapra. [5] A road bridge parallel to the existing rail and road bridge, Rajendra Setu, has also been planned. [6]

The bridge will also require construction of 13.24 km (8.23 mi) of approach roads on both ends of the bridge.

From 1982 to 2017, Mahatma Gandhi Setu remained as the longest bridge in India. Later, Gandhi Setu rehabilitation project was undertaken to install triangular steel trusses on Mahatma Gandhi Setu.

Koilwar Bridge, at Koilwar in Bhojpur spans the Sone river. This 1.44 km long, 2-lane wide rail-cum-road bridge connects Arrah with Patna, the capital of Bihar state in India. The bridge is named after Indian academic and social reformer Prof. Abdul Bari, and is presently the oldest operational railway bridge in India standing since 4 November 1862. It is shown in the 1982 Oscar award winning film Gandhi, directed by Richard Attenborough. From 1862 to 1900, Koilwar bridge remained as the longest river bridge in India.

JP Ganga Path is an 4 lane expressway along the Ganga river in Patna, Bihar, India. It is being jointly constructed by the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) and the Government of Bihar. Jp Ganga Path was planned to ensure a smooth flow of traffic between east Patna and west Patna, and ease the traffic congestion at Ashok Rajpath.

The state of Bihar has a number of bridges, extending from few metres to a few kilometres. The history of long bridges goes back to the British Empire when the site for the Koilwar bridge was surveyed in 1851. Since then a number of small and large bridges have crept up. Some are even largest of their kind. Mahatma Gandhi Setu, joining Patna and Hajipur was India's longest river bridge from 1982 to 2017.

New Koilwar Bridge, at Koilwar in Bhojpur is a 1.52 km long, 6-lane wide road bridge over the Sone river. It connects Arrah with Patna, the capital of Bihar state in India and also carries Buxar-Arrah-Patna national highway (NH-922). New Koilwar Bridge is named after Indian mathematician and Padma Shri awardee Vashishtha Narayan Singh (1946-2019). New Koilwar Bridge is 500 metres north and parallel to the existing 2-lane wide Koilwar Bridge. The construction work of all 6-lanes completed and Bridge is fully opened to public on 14 May 2022.

Chhapra–Hajipur Highway is an under-construction 66.74-kilometre-long (41.47 mi) road in Bihar. It is restored as part of old National Highway 19 (NH 19) and is planned between Chhapra and Hajipur in the first phase. The first phase is planned to be completed by June 2023. In the second phase, the road will be further extended to Patna. The project is executed by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). NHAI has allotted the construction work to a concessionaire on the basis of build–operate–transfer (BOT). This is a four-lane road and will become part of Hajipur-Chhapra-Ghazipur four-lane Highway (NH 31). The need for this Chhapra-Hajipur highway connecting Chhapra divisional headquarters with the capital Patna has increased after the commissioning of J.P. Setu and Arrah–Chhapra Bridge. Along with this, the importance of this road has increased due to the construction of Sherpur-Dighwara Loknayak Ganga Path will increase

Patli Path is an elevated road in Patna, the capital of Bihar. It was inaugurated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on 30 November 2020. At the time of inauguration of this elevated road, it was the longest elevated road of Bihar and seventh in India.
