The total geographical area of village is 878 hectares. Kaharpur has a total population of 1,404 people, out of which male population is 768 while female population is 636. The Vishahri (Bishari) Maa Mandir is a local temple dedicated to Bihula Bishari (also known Manasa, the Goddess of Snakes) [2] and is situated in the Kaharpur Village , Hario Panchayat in the Bhagalpur district of Bihar. It is a century old temple near the banks of Kosi River.It is the oldest temple in the village and is situated near the Old Peepal Tree of Kaharpur. [3]

Hanuman Mandir, Kaharpur

Hanuman Mandir, Kaharpur is a prominent temple in Kaharpur, serving as a significant center for devotional activities and festivals for the local populace. It is accesible via Kaharpur-Bhawanpura road . It is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and was rebuilt after the Old Hanuman Temple was submerged in Kosi.

Threat to the village's existence

Dozens of houses have been submerged in Kosi due continuous soil erosion by waves of Kosi river. The primary school and civil hospital have also been submerged in Kosi. [4]
