Shalini Ajith, also known as Baby Shalini, is an Indian former actress and child artist who predominantly worked in Malayalam and Tamil films. During the 80s, Shalini was the most successful child artist in both Malayalam and Tamil film industry. After taking a brief hiatus from child acting, Shalini made a come back in 1997 through Malayalam and Tamil language films as a lead heroine. She married popular Tamil actor Ajith Kumar, on April 24, 2000 and retired from films after her marriage.
Kannukkul Nilavu is a 2000 Indian Tamil-language romantic psychological thriller film written and directed by Fazil. The film stars Vijay, Shalini and Kaveri, while Raghuvaran, Srividya and Ponvannan play other supporting roles. It was Vijay's 25th film and his first film of the new 2000s millennium. It's also marked Kaveri's Tamil debut film. The film was released on 14 January 2000 to positive reviews and was a decent hit. Its satellite rights were sold to Sun TV for a good price. Apart from praise for its suspenseful story and Vijay's performance, the songs "Oru Naal Oru Kanavu" and "Iravu Pagalai Theda" were popular hit songs in the 2000s.
