Kallekulangara is an area in Palakkad city, Kerala, India. [1] [2] [3] Kallekulangara is famous for Sree Emoor Bhagavathy temple which is believed to be consecrated by Parashurama and Hemambika Devi is the deity,due to this Kallekulangara is also known by Hemambika Nagar. [4] [5] Head office of Palakkad railway division of Southern Railway zone and a residential colony of the railway employees under Southern Railway known as Hemambika Nagar railway colony is located here. This village is famous for its culture and religious fervour. About five centuries ago, Brahmins – mostly scholars, pandits, vaidikas, priests and cooks – from Thiruvannamalai in North Arcot district and other parts of Tamil Nadu came to Nurani in search of new pastures and established their dwelling in the present Agraharam (village). They brought in their Tamil culture and over years, became part and parcel of Palakkad population and their identity got merged in the new culture. Palakkad Railway Colony, or Hemambika Nagar Railway Colony, is a residential colony of the employees of the Palakkad Railway Division of the Southern Railway zone. It is situated in Hemambika Nagar, one of the suburbs of the city, located about 9 km from the centre of the city. It is one of the colonies which are maintained and are under Southern Railway. The only school in Kerala under Southern Railway, Railway High School Palakkad is located inside the colony.
