Ongole is a city in Prakasam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the headquarters of Prakasam district. It is known for Ongole cattle, an indigenous breed of oxen.

The Prakasam Barrage stretches 1223.5 m across the Krishna River connecting Vijayawada, NTR and Mangalagiri Tadepalle Municipal Corporation, Guntur districts in Andhra Pradesh, India. Rajasekhara Reddy, he quit the ministerial post citing differences with Kiran Kumar Reddy, the later Chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. In 2013, he joined YSR Congress Party.
