When the ceasefire was ordered, the invaders were only a few kilometres away from Tezpur, which was the headquarters of Assam cricket. Bihar played one match and then closed their season as most of their players were employed in firms and factories which were pressed into defence production.

The tournament was a part of the 2022–23 Indian domestic cricket season, which was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in August 2022. Tamil Nadu were the defending champions.
