Karan Singh Gurjar (born 3 April 1999) is an Indian sabre fencer. [4] He has won a gold and a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Championships. [5] Gurjar is also a double gold medalist at the South Asian Games. [6]

Early life

Gurjar started his career in 2010 when an athletics coach from the Army Institute of Pune introduced him to fencing. [8] He joined the Indian Navy through the sports quota in 2019. [9]

Ruchi Trikha is an Indian epée fencing player. In July 2017, she was noted as the top women fencer in the Punjab region of India. Trikha competed at the Asian Games 2006. She was the first Indian to win two bronze medals at the Commonwealth Fencing Championship in 2006. Trikha won an individual gold medal and team gold medal at the 12th Thailand Open Asian Fencing Championship. She was coached by Arun Kumar Vij, secretary-general of the Fencing Association of India.

The men's sabre competition in fencing at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was held on 10 August at the Carioca Arena 3. There were 32 competitors from 25 nations. The event was won by Áron Szilágyi of Hungary, the fourth man to successfully defend an Olympic title in the sabre and 14th to win multiple medals of any color. It was Hungary's 14th gold medal in the event, half of all possible. Daryl Homer earned the United States' first medal in the event since 1984 with his silver, while Kim Jung-hwan took South Korea's first individual men's sabre medal ever with his bronze.

Chadalavada Anandha Bhavani Devi, also known as C. A. Bhavani Devi, is an Indian sabre fencer. She became the first Indian fencer to qualify for Olympics at the 2020 Olympic Games. She is also a double gold medalist at the Commonwealth Championships. Devi became the first Indian fencer to win a medal at the Asian Championships by winning the bronze medal at the 2023 edition.

Fencing in India started with the foundation of the Fencing Association of India in 1974. It was recognized by the Indian Government in 1997. It is affiliated with the Indian Olympic Association, Fencing Confederation of Asia, Commonwealth Fencing Federation and the International Fencing Federation. India has produced some international level fencers who have performed well over the years.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Fencing at the 2024 Summer Olympics</span>

The fencing competitions at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris were run from 27 July to 4 August at the Grand Palais strip. A total of 212 fencers, with an equal distribution between men and women, competed across twelve medal events at the Games. For the second straight time, Paris 2024 witnessed both men and women fence against each other in the individual and team events held in all three weapons.

Taniksha Khatri is an Indian fencer specializing in the épée category. She's a silver medalist at the Commonwealth Junior Championships and the Asian Junior Championships.
