Karen Link is an NFL Cheerleader for the New England Patriots. [1] She was born and raised in Terryville, Connecticut, and attended Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts, where she graduated with a degree in communications. Link won the title of Miss Connecticut's Outstanding Teen in 2007 [2] and went on to compete in Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant. Her competition talent was a Spanish-influenced tap dance.
Shortly after returning from the national pageant, Link was a passenger in a head-on collision and suffered a broken spine. [3] After emergency surgery and rehabilitation, Link began dancing again. In 2014, she was chosen to join the New England Patriots Cheerleaders and cheered at Super Bowl XLIX where the New England Patriots defeated the Seattle Seahawks. [4] Link became captain [5] of the Patriots Cheerleaders in 2016 and cheered at her second Super Bowl [6] (Super Bowl LI), where the New England Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons.

Miss America's Teen is an American scholarship pageant. It is the sister program to the Miss America Organization, and it aims to "promote scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement for America's teens." In order to be eligible to compete, participants must first compete and win at the local level and then win the state title. The competition consists of several parts of competition which consists of an eight-minute interview in front of a panel of judges, talent, lifestyle and wellness, evening wear, and an on-stage question. All competitors must be girls between the ages of 13 and 18 years of age.

The New England Patriots Cheerleaders (NEPC) are the official cheerleading squad of the NFL's New England Patriots first formed in 1971. The cheerleaders also make appearances off the field and overseas with Patriots mascot Pat Patriot, and also has a Junior Patriots Cheerleaders, with girls of ages 7–17 being allowed to join. The New England Patriots Cheerleader also mentor the young girls by enriching their interests. The team also releases a swimsuit calendar yearly. The Patriots Cheerleaders' auditions take place at Gillette Stadium. In 2008, the squad went to China to train Chinese dancers for the 2008 Summer Olympics.
The Miss Virginia's Outstanding Teen competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the Commonwealth of Virginia in the Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant. The pageant is held each June at Bergland Center in Roanoke, Virginia during the same week as the Miss Virginia pageant.

Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2018 was the 12th Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant held at the Linda Chapin Theatre in the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida on July 29, 2017, the same date as Miss Teen USA 2017. Nicole Jia of Oklahoma crowned her successor Jessica Baeder of Alabama at the end of the event. This was the first time that Miss Alabama's Outstanding Teen captured the title of Miss America's Outstanding Teen.

At the conclusion of the event, Maria DeSantis of Texas crowned her successor Caitlin Brunell of Virginia. The pageant was hosted by Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson and performer Billy Flanigan.

At the conclusion of the event, Olivia McMillan of Georgia crowned her successor Allie Nault of New Hampshire. The pageant was hosted by Miss America 2015 Kira Kazantsev and Greg Hutson.
