David Wallace III (born December 16, 2004), known professionally as Kashdami (stylized in all caps "KA$HDAMI"), is an American rapper and singer. He gained popularity in the underground hip-hop scene in 2021 from social media and streaming platforms such as TikTok and SoundCloud, with his song "Look n the Mirror", leading to his signing with Republic Records.

Early life

David Wallace III was born on December 16, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He gained early experience with music through his father, who later died when Wallace was seven. His mother became ill at this time as well. Due to circumstances, his mother moved to Washington, D.C. to be closer to family. [1]

Career

2021–present: Career beginnings, Republic Records & Epiphany

Wallace would first rise to prominence when "Kappin Up" became popular on TikTok, following a dance challenge in 2020. [1] [2] In January 2021, his breakout single Reparations would release and gained popularity on various platforms including TikTok and SoundCloud. [3] His follow-up single "Look N The Mirror" also gained traction. [2] [3] [4] In May 2021, Wallace signed a deal with Republic Records. [2] On June 2, 2021, Wallace released his debut commercial mixtape Epiphany, through Republic Records. [5] [6] With production from Lil Tecca and features from tana, yvngxchris, SSGKobe, Riovaz, and D'mari Harris.

Wallace would then release his song "Intermission" in October 2021, [7] the lead single to his mixtape Hypernova (2021), [8] it was released on November 12, 2021, with a sole feature from Trippie Redd. [8] [9] On September 16, 2022, WORLD DAMINATION was released. WORLD DAMINATION features the artists NoCap, XLOVCLO, ilyFall, Slump6s & midwxst. [10] Wallace would release his first R&B single Games on October 27, 2023. [11] Wallace would start 2024 off by dropping his highly anticipated single Want! after the snippet gained virality on TikTok. [12] Brent Faiyaz was seen in the snippet. [13]
