Kasmarni (born 14 November 1974) is an Indonesian politician who currently serves as 15th Regent of Bengkalis Regency from 26 February 2021 and became the first woman to held the position.
Kasmarni was born on 14 November 1974 in Pekanbaru,Riau. [1] [2] She graduated from Setia Dharma high school in 1993 and went to Faculty of Political Science at University of Riau majoring in sociology from 1993 until 2000,and earned her master's degree at Surabaya Technology University from 2010 until 2012. [1] [2]
Kasmarni is married to Amril Mukminin,a politician who formerly served as Bengkalis Regent,and has had four children. [1] [2] His husband was sentenced at Rutan Sialang Bungkuk in Pekanbaru due to corruption in 2017 and was released in 2022 to attend their son wedding. [3]
Kasmarni started her career as Staff Employee of the General Bureau of the Riau Regional Secretary from 1999 until 2002 and as Bengkalis Regency Government Employee Staff from 2003 until 2006,and also served as various employee,such as Secretary of the Pinggir Subdistrict Head,Pinggir Subdistrict Head,Secretary of the Bengkalis Regency Manpower Office,Secretary of the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service,and Expert Staff of the Bengkalis Regent. On 9 December 2020,Kasmarni won an election for Bengkalis Regent along with his candidate,Bagus Santoso,as Deputy Regent with 91,291 votes out of a total of 277,960 valid votes. [1] They were appointed at Riau Governor office on 26 February 2021. [1]
Riau is a province of Indonesia. It is located on the central eastern coast of Sumatra along the Strait of Malacca. Siak,is a regency (kabupaten) of Riau Province,on the island of Sumatra,Indonesia. It has an area of 8,556.09 km2 and had a population of 376,742 at the 2010 Census and 457,940 at the 2020 Census;the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 477,550,comprising 246,186 males and 231,364 females. The administrative centre of the regency is located at Siak Sri Indrapura. The northern part of this regency contains a large part of the Bukit Batu Biosphere Reserve.
Bengkalis was the seat (capital) of Bengkalis Regency in the Riau province of Indonesia until 8 July 2013,when it became an independent city. It is located on Bengkalis Island. The city had a population of 66,211.
The 2018 Riau gubernatorial election took place on 27 June 2018 as part of the simultaneous local elections. It was held to elect the governor of Riau along with their deputy,whilst members of the provincial council will be re-elected in 2019.

Bagus Santoso is an Indonesian politician,journalist,and writer who currently serves as 5th Deputy Regent of Bengkalis Regency from 26 February 2021. He formerly served as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives in Riau from 2009 until 2019 and as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives in Bengkalis from 2004 until 2009.
