Kathleen Ryder (born 1934) is a former camogie player, captain of the All Ireland Camogie Championship winning team in 1965 and 1966. [1] She won ten All Ireland senior medals in all. [2]
She first played for Dublin at the age of 21 as a sub in the 1955 All Ireland semi-final against Mayo and held her place for 12 years, winning the first of ten All Ireland medals in 1957. She won the first of five Gael Linn cup medals with Leinster in 1956, playing her last match for Leinster in the unsuccessful final of 1966. She won five successive Ashbourne Cup honours with UCD between 1958 and 1962. In 1965 she became the second player in camogie history to captain her side to victory in both the All Ireland Camogie Championship [3] and Gael Linn Cup for inter-provincial teams in the same year.[ citation needed ]
Mary Leacy is an Irish sportsperson. She won camogie All Star awards in 2004, 2007 and 2010. She plays camogie with her local club Oulart–The Ballagh and has been a member of the Wexford senior inter-county team since 2001. Leacy captained Wexford to the All-Ireland title in 2007 and won further All Irelands in 2010 and 2011, and a member of the Team of the Championship for 2011.
Catherine Doherty is a camogie player and a purchaser, who played in the 2009 All Ireland camogie final. She played corner-forward on her first All Ireland final appearance in 2001. and her brother, Noel, who won an All-Ireland Intermediate medal in 2008. Another brother, Niall, has also donned the county colours in various grades while an uncle, Joe Doherty, played Senior with Kilkenny in 1965. Catherine won a Purcell Cup medal with Carlow I.T. and was picked on the combined Purcell team in 2005. She played camogie/shinty for Ireland in Centenary Year and represented Leinster in the Gael Linn in 2000, 2002, 2005, and 2009. Has won a National League and Leinster Junior and Senior titles with Kilkenny, as well as Junior and Intermediate medals with the club. Her senior debut was in 2000. .
Mary Geaney is an Irish sportswoman. She played senior ladies' Gaelic football for Kerry, senior camogie for Cork and is also a former Ireland women's field hockey international. In 1976 she captained Kerry when they won the All-Ireland Senior Ladies' Football Championship and in 1980 she captained Cork when they won the All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship. She was the first player to captain a team to both championships. As a field hockey international, she was a member of the Ireland team that won the 1983 Women's Intercontinental Cup. In 2010 she was inducted into the Irish Hockey Association Hall of Fame.
The Gael Linn Cup is a bi-ennial tournament, representative competition for elite level participants in the women's team field sport of camogie, contested by Ireland's four provincial teams with competitions at senior and junior level on alternate years. The tournament has existed in various guides since 1956, currently the senior tournament is played in even years and the junior tournament in odd years. An inter-provincial colleges competition is also played at secondary school/high school level.
Bridie Martin-McGarry from Kilkenny is a former camogie player selected on the camogie team of the century in 2004, and winner of nine All Ireland medals.
Áine Codd is a camogie player, winner of an All-Star award in 2004 and an All Ireland medal in 2007.
Catherine O’Loughlin is a camogie player, winner of six All-Star awards in 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011 and 2012 and four-time winner of the All Ireland championship in 2007, 2010,2011 and 2012. She was nominated for further All-Stars in 2006, 2009. and 2010 and a member of the 2011 Team of the Championship. She won four All Ireland medals with Wexford in 2007, 2010 2011 and 2012
Kate Kelly is a camogie player, winner of nine All-Star awards in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016. In 2007, she helped Wexford win their first All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship in 32 years. and further All Ireland medals in 2010, 2011 and 2012 when she was player of the match in the All Ireland final.
Una Leacy is a camogie player and winner of two All-Star awards. Leacy's first All-Star came in 2007, the year her two early goals helped Wexford win their first All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship in 32 years, and her second in 2011. She won further All Ireland medals in 2010 and 2011.
Mary Walsh is a former camogie player, captain of the All Ireland Camogie Championship winning team in 1968.All Ireland senior medals in 1969.
Catherine ‘Cathy’ Landers is a former camogie player, captain of the All Ireland Camogie Championship winning team in 1983. She won four All Ireland senior medals, three previously in 1978, 1980 and 1982. She played in six further All Ireland finals. Also her son Séamus Harnedy plays with the Cork Senior Hurling Team and has won a Munster medal and one All Star Award
Judy Doyle is a former camogie player who was one of the leading goalscorers of her generation, the scorer of three goals for Dublin against Tipperary in the 1961 All Ireland final, four goals for Dublin against Antrim in the 1964 All Ireland final and five goals for Dublin against Tipperary in the 1965 All Ireland final. She won six All Ireland senior medals in all. She won six All Ireland medals from 1961 to 1966 and five Gael Linn Cup medals.
Marianne Johnson is a former camogie player, All Ireland medalist and member of the Kildare team of the century.
Maura McNicholas is a former camogie player, winner of the AIB Gaelic Star award for Camogie Junior Player of the year in 1986.
Miriam Malone is a former camogie player, winner of the AIB Gaelic Star Junior Player of the Year award in 1987.
Ann Carroll is a camogie player. twice an All Ireland inter-county medalist and the outstanding personality in the first decade of the history of the All-Ireland Senior Club Camogie Championship winning medals with both St Patrick’s, Glengoole from Tipperary and St Paul’s from Kilkenny. She played inter-county camogie for both Tipperary and Kilkenny and Interprovincial camogie for both Munster and Leinster.
Therése O'Callaghan is a camogie player, captain of the winning National Camogie League team in 1991 and again in 1996. She also captained her club Glen Rovers to the All Ireland club championship of 1990.
Kathleen Marks , born in 1935, is a former camogie player, who played for Tipperary in four All Ireland Camogie Championship finals without achieving the long-awaited breakthrough for Tipperary.
Aoife O'Connor is a camogie player, Winner of All-Ireland Senior medals in 2007, 2010 and 2011 and captain of the Wexford team that won the National Camogie League in 2009 on the week that she married.
