Kathryn Mary Elizabeth Dominguez (born November 26, 1960) is a Professor of Public Policy and Economics at the University of Michigan and is a former nominee for the Governor of the U.S. Federal Reserve System.
Dominguez was born on November 26, 1960, in Los Angeles, California. [1] She received her Artium Baccalaureus degree in 1982 from Vassar College. She received a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics in 1987 from Yale University. Prior to attaining her Ph.D., she served on the research staff of the Fiscal Analysis Division of the Congressional Budget Office during the summer of 1984 and as a dissertation scholar in the International Finance Division of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, from 1985 to 1986. In July 1987, Dominguez was appointed an Assistant Professor of Public Policy at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. In July 1991, she gained academic tenure when she was appointed as an Associate Professor of Public Policy at the same institution. From 1990 to 1991, she also served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Princeton University, in their Department of Economics. She served with the Harvard faculty until 1997, when she joined the faculty at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan as an Associate Professor of Public Policy. In 2004, she was appointed Professor of Public Policy and in 2006 she was appointed Professor of Public Policy and Economics, in which capacity she continues to serve. From 2003 to 2004, she served as an Academic Visitor at the London School of Economics and Political Science. From 2008 to 2009, she served as a Visiting Professor of Public Policy at the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley. [2] [3]
Dominguez served as an Olin Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts, from 1991 to 1992, and has served as a research associate since 2000. She has served as a research consultant for the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the Bank for International Settlements. She served as a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in December 2002. She served on the Academic Advisory Panels for the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland in 2007 and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 2013. [2] [3]
On July 21, 2015, President Obama nominated Dominguez to be a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, [2] [5] to the seat vacated by Jeremy C. Stein who resigned on May 28, 2014. [6] Her nomination was returned to the President under the provisions of Senate Rule XXXI, paragraph 6 of the Standing Rules of the Senate. [7]
Dominguez is a dual citizen of the United States and Ireland. She is married with two children, Julia and Elizabeth Hines. [3]

Dybvig, "for research on banks and financial crises", more specifically for his analysis of the Great Depression.
Donald Lewis Kohn is an American economist who served as the 18th vice chair of the Federal Reserve from 2006 to 2010. Prior to his term as vice chair, Kohn served as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, taking office in 2002. Fed's veteran, he retired after 40 years at the central bank, currently serving on the Financial Policy Committee for the Bank of England and as a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution.

Lael Brainard is an American economist serving as the 14th director of the National Economic Council since February 21, 2023. She previously served as the 22nd vice chair of the Federal Reserve between May 2022 and February 2023. Prior to her term as vice chair, Brainard served as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, taking office in 2014. Before her appointment to the Federal Reserve, she served as the under secretary of the treasury for international affairs from 2010 to 2013.

Sarah Bloom Raskin is an American attorney and regulator who served as the 13th United States Deputy Secretary of the Treasury from 2014 to 2017. Jeremy Chaim Stein is an American economist and the Moise Y. Safra Professor of Economics at Harvard University; he also chaired Harvard's economics department. He served as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors from 2012 to 2014. Stein served as president of the American Finance Association in 2008.
Betsey Ayer Stevenson is an economist and Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the University of Michigan Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy. Additionally, she is a fellow of the Ifo Institute for Economic Research in Munich, a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and servers on the board of the American Economic Association. The Obama Administration announced her appointment as a Member of the Council of Economic Advisers, a post she served from 2013 through 2015. She previously served as Chief Economist of the U.S. Department of Labor under Secretary Hilda Solis from 2010 to 2011. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor of Business and Public Policy, at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Phillip Lee "Phill" Swagel is an American economist who is currently the director of the Congressional Budget Office. As Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy from 2006 to 2009, he played an important role in the Troubled Asset Relief Program that was part of the U.S. government's response to the financial crisis of 2007–08. He was recently a Professor in International Economics at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy, a non-resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, senior fellow at the Milken Institute, and co-chair of the Bipartisan Policy Center's Financial Regulatory Reform Initiative.

Russell Distinguished Professor of Finance at the Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University. She served from 2011 to 2013 as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy and chief economist of the United States Department of the Treasury. She was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2013. Her research focuses on the intersection of macroeconomics and finance.

Karen Dynan is an American economist who is Professor of the Practice of Economics at Harvard University and a Non-resident Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. She previously served as the Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy and Chief Economist of the United States Department of the Treasury, having been nominated to that position by President Barack Obama in August 2013 and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in June 2014. From 2009 to 2013, Dr. Dynan was the Vice President and Co-director of the Economic Studies program at the Brookings Institution. Prior to joining Brookings, she served on the staff of the Federal Reserve Board for 17 years. Dr. Dynan is an expert on macroeconomic policy, consumer behavior, household finance, and housing policy.
