Poikkal Kudhirai was based on Crazy Mohan's play Marriage Made in Saloon. The film was remade in Kannada in 1992 as Mavanige Thakka Aliya.
Mohan Rangachari known professionally as Crazy Mohan, was an Indian actor, comedian, screenwriter and playwright. An engineer by profession, Mohan started writing plays and established his own drama troupe called "Crazy Creations" in 1979. In addition to dramas and tele-serials, Mohan worked as a dialogue writer on a number of comedy films. Mohan had written over 30 plays, worked on over 40 films, having cameo roles in each film, and written 100 short stories. He died on 10 June 2019 due to a cardiac arrest. The Tamil Nadu state government in the year 2004, awarded him with Kalaimamani title for excellence in the field of arts and literature.
Jai Sampath is an Indian actor working in Tamil films. The nephew of noted music composer Deva & the cousin of music director Srikanth Deva, Jai had worked as a keyboardist in films and had made his acting debut in a supporting role in Bagavathi (2002). The series stars Jai, Vivek Prasanna, Rajkumar, Vani Bhojan, Madhuri Jain and Namita Krishnamurthy. It was released through Disney+ Hotstar on 11 December 2020.
Mahaan (transl. Great) is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language action drama film written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Lalit Kumar under the banner of Seven Screen Studio. The film stars Vikram and Dhruv Vikram.
