Kaykhosro Pournazeri (born in Kermanshah, Iran; 21 June 1944) is a composer and musician who plays Tanbour.

He studied music with musician Ostad Ali-Naqi Vaziri.

Kaykhosro Pornazeri founded the Shamss Ensemble in 1980 and combined Tanbour with the poetry of Rumi and the Daf frame drum. Tahmoures and Sohrab Pournazeri, his sons, are also members of this band. [1] [2] [3] [4]

He gave his first recital in 1971 in Kermanshah. In 1981, he began collaborating with the Kurdish singer Shahram Nazeri, and performed throughout Europe and North America. He is an expert on the tanbur instrument, which is considered sacred in Kurdish Yarsani and sufi music.

Hormoz Farhat was a Persian-American composer and ethnomusicologist who spent much of his career in Dublin, Ireland. An emeritus professor of music, he was a fellow of Trinity College, Dublin. Described by the Irish Times as a "a gifted and distinctive composer of contemporary classical music," his compositions include orchestral, concertante, piano and choral music, as well string quartets and chamber works.
