Supreme Court of Bangladesh is the highest court of law in Bangladesh. It is composed of the High Court Division and the Appellate Division,and was created by Part VI Chapter I of the Constitution of Bangladesh adopted in 1972. This is also the office of the Chief Justice,Appellate Division Justices,and High Court Division Justices of Bangladesh. As of August 2024,there are 6 Justices in Appellate Division and 78 Justices in High Court Division.

Search Committee,2022 is a committee set up by President Mohammad Abdul Hamid on 5 February 2022,to select qualified persons for the post of Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners of the 13th Bangladesh Election Commission. Obaidul Hassan is the chairman of this committee with 6 members. Although two such committees have been formed in Bangladesh before,this is the first committee formed by law. One week before the formation of this committee,the Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioners Appointment Act,2022 was passed. The ruling Awami League welcomed this committee. However,15 political parties,including the main opposition party BNP and Islami Andolan Bangladesh,refrain from being involved in all the activities of the committee. President Abdul Hamid formed Habibul Awal commission on 26 February with the recommendations of the committee.
Muhammed Sohul Hussain is a former election commissioner of Bangladesh who served during the 2006–2008 Bangladeshi political crisis. In 2022,he was part of the search committee created to appoint new election commissioners.
The Jatiya Party (Kazi Zafar) is a political party in Bangladesh. The party was formed as the result of a disagreement regarding the Jatiya Party led by Hussain Muhammad Ershad.
Habibul Awal Commission is the thirteenth election commission of Bangladesh. President Mohammad Abdul Hamid formed this commission on February 26 based on the recommendations of the 2022 Search Committee. Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal including 5 members of this commission. The Next Bangladeshi general election will be held under this commission. According to the constitution of Bangladesh,the term of this commission is 5 years.
