History

Kedah Football Association (Malay: Persatuan Bola Sepak Kedah, KFA), originally founded in 1924 as the Kedah Amateur Football Association (Persatuan Bola Sepak Amatur Kedah), is the governing body for football in the Malaysian state of Kedah. The association has overseen football development in the state for nearly a century, representing Kedah in the Malaya Cup (now known as the Malaysia Cup) since 1930. [3] [4]

KFA is responsible for the administration, promotion, and regulation of football at all levels in the state. This includes grassroots programs, community and social football, amateur competitions, and semi-professional leagues. The association also supports the development of coaches, referees, and club officials, fostering participation among players, parents, and supporters alike.

Under its governance, Kedah football has produced notable achievements in Malaysian football history, including multiple Malaysia Cup titles, league championships, and FA Cup successes. Kedah Darul Aman, which was formerly the association’s flagship club, has been a central part of this success, evolving from an amateur team to a professional club while maintaining strong links to the local community.

KFA continues to play a pivotal role in nurturing young talent through youth academies and development programs, aiming to strengthen the state's footballing structure and contribute players to both domestic and national competitions.
