Kedar Pandit (born 6 January 1967) is an Indian tabla player, music composer in Hindustani classical music genre and music arranger. [2] [1]

Early life and background

Pandit was born in a Marathi family to Prabhakar Pandit and Anuradha Pandit, both acclaimed violinists.[ citation needed ]

Career

Pandit accompanied Pandit Jasraj on tabla for all of Jasraj's concerts, [3] [4] and accompanies vocalists Kaushiki Chakrabarty and Sanjeev Abhyankar. [5] [6] Over the years, he moved to music composing and arranging, working with leading arists. [3] In 2015 he worked with the actress Ketaki Mategaonkar, composing the music for her album. [7]

The Mewati gharana is a musical apprenticeship tribe of Hindustani classical music. Known for being Pandit Jasraj's musical lineage, the gharana was founded by brothers Ghagge Nazir Khan and Wahid Khan (beenkar) of Indore in the late 19th century at the Holkar Court. Members of this gharana have had an active influence in Indian cinema for over half a century.

Pandit Motiram Pandit Maniram Sangeet Samaroh is an annual Indian classical music festival held at Chowmahalla Palace in Hyderabad, India. The festival is organised by noted classical singer Pt. Jasraj in memory of his father and brother, both classical musicians. Jasraj always performs on 30 November every year, his father's death anniversary and a tribute to Jasraj's guru, his mentor and elder brother, Maniram, who died in 1986, and Jasraj renamed the festival to include his brother's name.

Ladki Sahyadri Ki is a 1966 Hindi social drama film directed by V. Shantaram. Also called Iye Marathichiye Nagari in Marathi, it was a bilingual for V. Shantaram productions under the Rajkamal Kalamandir banner. The music was composed by Vasant Desai, with lyrics by Bharat Vyas. The cast included Sandhya, Shalini Abhyankar, Vatsala Deshmukh, Kumar Dighe, Keshavrao Date, and Baburao Pendharkar.
