The Kelantan royal family consists of the family members of the Sultan of Kelantan. It currently consists of Muhammad V of Kelantan and his close relations.
The Sultan and his family belong to the House of Long Yunus. The ruling house had founded the monarchy in 1267 and continues to be in power to this day. [1]
Several members of the royal family are also the members of the State Royal Succession Council (Malay : Majlis Perajaan Negeri) or the Advisory Council to the Ruler (Malay : Majlis Penasihat Raja). The State Royal Succession Council role is to confirm the ascension to the throne while the Advisory Council to the Ruler role is to assist the Sultan in carrying out his duty to the state by acting as an advisory body to the Sultan. Some members are made Kerabat D’Raja Bergelar or in English, royal family members with titles, whom are responsible for any engagement involving the palace. [2] [3]
The full title of the Sultan of Kelantan is Sultan dan Yang di-Pertuan bagi Negeri Kelantan Darul Naim serta Jajahan Takluknya, or in English, The Sultan and Sovereign Ruler of Kelantan Abode of Bliss and its Dependencies. [4]
The title Raja Perempuan Kelantan may be conferred to a spouse of the Sultan, given that she is of a royal descent. The title Sultanah Kelantan can be conferred instead to the spouse that is not of a royal descent. The regnal name of the consort of the Sultan will be the title, followed by her given name. For example: Sultanah Nur Diana Petra Abdullah. [5]
The heir apparent is conferred the title Tengku Mahkota Kelantan or in English, the Crown Prince of Kelantan. His wife will receive the title Tengku Ampuan Mahkota Kelantan if she is of royal descent. The title Che Puan Mahkota Kelantan can be conferred instead to the wife that is not of royal descent. [6]
The Sultan's mother will receive the title and honorific prefix of Raja Perempuan before her given name upon his ascension to the throne. For example, Muhammad V of Kelantan's mother is styled Raja Perempuan Tengku Anis binti Almarhum Tengku Abdul Hamid. [7]

Sultan Ismail Petra ibni Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra was the 28th Sultan of Kelantan and the 11th Sultan of Modern Kelantan who reigned from 30 March 1979 to 13 September 2010. He succeeded on the death of his father, Sultan Yahya Petra. He was succeeded by his eldest son, Sultan Muhammad V who ascended to the throne on 13 September 2010 after Sultan Ismail Petra was incapacitated. Sultan Ismail Petra died at the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Bharu on 28 September 2019, aged 69, after 10 years of suffering from a massive stroke and was buried at the Kelantan Royal Mausoleum.

The Mahmoodiah Royal Mausoleum is a Royal Mausoleum of Johor located at Bukit Mahmoodiah in Jalan Mahmoodiah, Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Tengku Amalin A'ishah Putri binti Almarhum Sultan Ismail Petra is a member of the Kelantan royal family who is the Tengku Maharani Putri. She is the youngest sibling and only sister of the current Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V.
Tengku Zubaidah binti Tengku Norudin is a Thai woman of Malay descent and member of Pattani royal family. She was the former wife of Sultan Muhammad V, the 29th Sultan of Kelantan.
Tunku Puan Nora Ismail, formerly known as Sultanah Nora was the Sultanah of Johor from 1978 to 1981. She is the sister of late Tunku Puan Zanariah who was also the Sultanah of Johor from 1981 to 2010. She is the daughter of Tengku Panglima Raja Tengku Long Ahmad bin Tengku Temenggong Long Abdul Ghaffar of Kelantan.
