Kelly Movshina (born 1966or1967), [1] previously known as Kelly Fisher, is an American property developer and former model. Throughout her modeling career, she appeared in advertisement campaigns for fashion brands including Calvin Klein, Victoria's Secret, Armani, and La Perla. She was featured on the covers of Vogue , Marie Claire , Cosmopolitan , W and Elle .

Fisher was known for her relationship with Egyptian film producer Dodi Fayed, who died in a car crash in Paris in 1997 that also caused the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. At the time of Fayed's death, Fisher was suing him for breaking off their reported engagement to pursue a relationship with the princess.

Early life

Fisher was born in Louisville, Kentucky. [2] [3] She is the daughter of Judith Dunaway. [4] Her family later relocated to Toronto for her father's job as a business executive. [5]

Modeling career

Fisher began modeling while she was a teenager. [6] She was featured on the covers of fashion magazines including Elle , Marie Claire , Vogue , Cosmopolitan , and W . [4] [3] [6] Fisher also modeled for Armani, La Perla, Calvin Klein, and Victoria's Secret. [3] [6]

Personal life

Relationship with Dodi Fayed

In July 1996, Fisher met Egyptian heir and film producer Dodi Fayed. [2] In July 1997, while Fayed was in a relationship with Fisher, he became romantically involved with Diana, Princess of Wales. [7] [8] Fisher only learned of their relationship after seeing paparazzi photos of the two embracing. In August 1997, Fisher, represented by Gloria Allred, [9] sued Fayed for breach of contract in the Santa Monica Superior Court and claimed that they were engaged to be married, with a wedding set for August 9, 1997, when he began a relationship with the princess. [7] [4] A spokesperson for the Al Fayed family denied an engagement between Fisher and Fayed. [7]

Fisher withdrew her lawsuit on September 1, 1997, the day after Fayed and Diana died following a car crash. [7] [10] Fisher participated in the inquest into the death of Diana. [3]

According to journalist Martyn Gregory's 2004 book Diana: The Last Days, Fisher and Fayed became engaged in February 1997 and were gifted a mansion in Malibu, California, from Fayed's father, billionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed. [2] Fisher reportedly picked out antique furniture for the home from the Al-Fayed family home in Paris, Villa Windsor, which had previously been occupied by Prince Edward, Duke of Windsor, and Wallis Simpson. [2]

Later life

After retiring from modeling, Fisher began working as a property developer in South Carolina. [11]

In 2007, Fisher married Russian pilot Mikhail Movshin, whom she met in the Central African Republic. [2] [11] They have one daughter and live in Aiken, South Carolina. [5] [12] They previously lived in Paris and Switzerland. [3]

Fisher was portrayed by Welsh actress Erin Richards in the fifth and sixth seasons of the historical drama television series The Crown . [3] [13]

There are many conspiracy theories surrounding the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, on 31 August 1997. Official investigations in both Britain and France found that Diana died in a manner consistent with media reports following the fatal car crash in Paris. In 1999, a French investigation concluded that Diana died as the result of a crash. The French investigator, Judge Hervé Stephan, concluded that the paparazzi were some distance from the Mercedes S280 when it crashed and were not responsible for manslaughter. After hearing evidence at the British inquest, a jury in 2008 returned a verdict of "unlawful killing" by driver Henri Paul and the paparazzi pursuing the car. The jury's verdict also stated: "In addition, the death of the deceased was caused or contributed to by the fact that the deceased were not wearing a seat belt and by the fact that the Mercedes struck the pillar in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel rather than colliding with something else."

Unlawful Killing is a 2011 British documentary film about the deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales, and Dodi Fayed on 31 August 1997 directed by Keith Allen and financed by Dodi's father Mohamed Al-Fayed at a reported cost of £2.5m. It had a single trade screening during the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
