Kentchurch Court is a Grade I listed [1] stately home 1,200 yards (1,000 m) east from the village of Kentchurch in Herefordshire, England.
It is the family home of the Scudamore family. [2] Family members included Sir John Scudamore, who acted as constable and steward of a number of royal castles in south Wales at the start of the 15th century. He secretly married Alys, one of the daughters of Owain Glyndŵr, in 1410, and it has been suggested that the couple may have harboured Glyndŵr himself at Kentchurch after his disappearance around 1412, until his death. Kentchurch Court has been used as a filming location for several films and television series including The Vault of Horror , On the Black Hill and Regency House Party . In 2011, it was the subject of a documentary presented by hotelier Ruth Watson as part of her Country House Rescue series.
Owain ap Gruffydd, commonly known as Owain Glyndŵr or Glyn Dŵr, was a Welsh leader who led a fierce and long-running war of independence with the aim of ending English rule in Wales during the Late Middle Ages. He formed the first Senedd, and he was the last native-born Welshman to hold the title Prince of Wales.

"Princess of Wales", an English honorific given to the wife of the English prince of Wales, was first used by Joan of Kent. Kentchurch is a small village and civil parish in Herefordshire, England. It is located some 13 miles (21 km) south-west of Hereford and 13 miles (21 km) north-east of Abergavenny, beside the River Monnow and adjoining the boundary between England and Wales. The village name probably derives from an original dedication of the church to a 5th-century nun, Cein, or her sister Ceingar, who were daughters of Brychan, king of Brycheiniog. Burton Court is a Grade II* listed English country manor house in the Parish of Eardisland, southwest of Leominster, Herefordshire, England. The manor dates to at least the 11th century and the current house to the early 14th and 18th century. Sleath Farmhouse, Llangua, Monmouthshire is a farmhouse dating from the mid 16th century. Standing close to the Church of St James, in the far north of the county close to the border with Herefordshire, the farmhouse is a Grade II* listed building, its listing noting that it is an "extremely rare survival" of a Welsh framed hall house.
The Scudamorefamily is an English noble family. The family settled in Herefordshire at two seats, Holme Lacy and Kentchurch Court, before lines moved to Devon, Somerset and Derbyshire. The family first gained prominence in the 15th and 16th centuries, before becoming ennobled as Viscount Scudamore and Baron Dromore in the 17th century, and were granted two baronetcies in 1620 and 1644.
